  1. I would have to break rank with you on that. I take Zib every day. His goal scoring ability sets him apart. But they could have both long term if they really wanted to (without trading Panarin).
  2. Definitely. Miller’s floor on the open market is $8.5. That’s what Zib got 1 year before hitting open market. That was less than what most were assuming ($9-10). Miller’s production is in line with that. $8.5 if he takes a small discount to be somewhere he’d rather be. $9-10 per to take max offer.
  3. Panarin came from nothing. He made it through sheer determination, not just from him but his grandparents too. I remember a tremendous article on the Athletic on him: https://theathletic.com/308056/2018/04/11/an-incredible-journey-artemi-panarins-path-from-poverty-to-nhl-stardom/?source=user_shared_article A couple of great quotes: There was a free one that covers only some of his upbringing here from NYP: https://nypost.com/2020/01/06/the-wild-journey-that-led-artemi-panarin-to-rangers-stardom/amp/ So let’s not question this man’s drive, passion, love for the game, etc. One playoff showing is a blip on this guy’s career. It is not the definition of it. I still believe the best is yet to come.
  4. Long offseason guys. Make sure to save some of that gas in the tank on a topic more realistic than trading Panarin lol
  5. Vancouver is actually one of the very few destinations I could see if it ever were to happen, but I don't think Panarin waives to go anywhere unless Strome signs at the same destination. Panarin and Strome's rights (re-signed 6 yrs $6.5M) for JT Miller (re-signed 7 yrs $8.5M) and Connor Garland. Something like that.
  6. Why waste your time? Panarin would never in a million years entertain going to Winnipeg. At least pick a realistic destination
  7. “Re-sign Stromer” at the top of both of those lists for Panarin.
  8. Johnson wasn’t any better with the Rangers than Nemeth was. There couldn’t possibly be a bigger indictment than that, that the Rangers don’t and haven’t played with nearly enough structure. Structure hides those guys well enough. Tampa hid Cernak, Bogosian, Rutta. None of those guys are very good. They would be negative players on the Rangers. Gallant has his work cut out for him, and so do the players. They need to buy in.
  9. Nothing wrong with Foxy's contract. Makar should just be making $11-12.
  10. I felt last year you could make a strong case that Adam Fox was as good or better than Makar. Not anymore. Makar is closer to McDavid than Fox is to Makar.
  11. Please get rid of Emily Kaplan next year. Absolutely zero flow with interviewing. Weird ass questions.
  12. Felt like Tampa just didn't play with enough panic in the 3rd period. There's "been there done that" type of confidence, and then there's whatever that 3rd period effort was. Colorado deserves the Cup though. Well played all year. They dominated a lot of good teams.
  13. Colorado is not this good defensively. Tampa looks pretty checked out. Not near enough urgency
  14. Speaking of Erik Karlsson, that may be one of the worst NHL trades this century, especially when you start to consider the contract SJ signed him to. Just an absolutely brutal move by the Sharks.
  15. Draisaitl trade starts with one of: Zibanejad, Fox, Shesterkin, or maybe maybe maaayybe Lafreniere depending on how they view him. Then keep adding.
  16. Gourde is a great pick if the Rangers are trading for a 2C who won’t sink and can also play a 3C game. The problem is burning the kind of assets it would take after spending them on Copp. The idea was better at the deadline to try to convince Seattle to take that 1st, 2nd, prospect type package. Now you do it again (plus more) to get a guy like Gourde and you’ve burned a lot of capital in just a few months. That’s not good enough asset management. I think the train left the station on trading for a bonafide 2C of a Gourde level or a Scheifelle/Miller/etc level. If they are spending that cap on a 2C it’ll just be Strome/Copp/Trocheck IMO. But seeing the estimated numbers being put out there, they should stand pat at this point and like for a significantly cheaper mid-6 C in trade cost and cap hit (<insert Pius Suter pitch here>).
  17. If Lafreniere is moving positions, just have him start training at center. Mostly kidding with a hint of “what if” in there.
  18. If he has center traits, maybe. Left to right wing is a much easier ask though
  19. Yup. I keep seeing people shift Lafreniere to the right. I don’t understand it. He’s supposed to be our franchise player for the next, what, 15 years? He needs to play his position. Kreider is a vet and he should be able to take it in stride and realize that’s his role now.
  20. These kinds of calls should be reviewable. Kadri was all the way on the other side of the ice receiving the puck before MacKinnon finally got off. It was way too much time between Kadri going on and MacKinnon getting off. And not even time, distance. MacKinnon wasn’t next to the bench just waiting to get off through a bench door. He was in the middle of the ice in the OZ. Not even close. If you watch the replay Nichuskin was relatively close and looked like he might be getting off. Then he curled and stayed on. Maybe that’s who Kadri thought was coming off for him. I also don’t care in this case because Tampa has gotten an insane amount of these kinds of breaks their way for a while now. They deserve to get fucked over.
  21. Send Othmann back. It’s not about proving more statistically in the OHL. It’s about allowing him to keep maturing both physically and emotionally, delaying the ELC timer another season, and having more clarity at the NHL-level in terms of roster makeup and where he might fit. All that stuff is more important than him getting at most 10-12 minutes on the 3rd line a year early. I’m not sure if it works like this, but do the Rangers have any pull to request Othmann’s OHL team to try him out at RW? “We’ll send him back to the O if you do xyz or we’ll keep him up here in NY”. I don’t really know how these relationships work.
