So hey guys. I see not many people post in the flying puck. Just wanted to say hey and thank you to those that repped me or messaged me welcoming me back. As we say “You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave” lol. How is everyone doing? For me, job is the same, always a new adventure to put it best. Bought a new house in port Jeff village a few years ago so I’m hob nobbing with the upper middle class these days establishing a home with my gf. Bringing my gf of 6 years to Ireland soon and for those fb friends of mine, will see a pretty big deal happening while we are there . How’s everyone else?

I like that he's stuck up for teammates in the past, especially for a smaller guy. He's also only 24 and a 1st round pick. I'd really hate to just give up on the guy TBH.

To be honest I also think it’s slightly easier to teach an offensive minded player to be more defensive minded than vice versa.

and on a team where OEL has been THE guy rather than a 2nd or 3rd option. Technically the year after they traded Yandle here, OEL led his entire team in points.

If that happens, which is a possibility, it will still be easier to find a solution for goal by the end of that season with all the money we have than it will be to try and replace the 2 or 3 pieces we cant keep because of those 3 helty D contracts. Remember, im only suggesting this if a contract is taken as well. Obviously if not, this makes no sense,

I know, you'll likely get no return. I'm fine with that. The return to me is losing one contract so buying out another means we easily have the cap room to retain Buch, Lemieux, and ADA. I think being able to gamble Georgiev to give us more time to see if two or three of those guys turn into long term keepers is fine with me. By the time 20/21 finishes, we lose the remaining one of of the three contracts in Staal, Shatty, and Smith and lose Hank. At the worst, if we do that and are able to push our RFAs down the road, we decide if they are worth locking up longer term at that point or see where we can spend some money at a point where we know how close we are to being contenders. To me it just makes sense.

I agree but Hank probably is not going anwhere for another two years. Add in our recent signings and Kakko "fortune" and it seems that we are more on the side of a faster rebuild. WE don't know what Igor is going to bring, but I could see him being a Saros type for the next two years awaiting his turn and in the meantime still getting decent playing time with an older Hank. He gets two years for us to find this out working with Benoit Allaire. If it doesn't work? So be it. At least we were able to retain another younger talent hopefully along the way with an ADA or Buch instead of cutting ties because of a bad D contract that we all know is never part of our future. I feel like in today's NHL there is a lot more movement in goalies than in the past where the same goalie was between the pipes for a decade or so. I'm willing to take that chance if it means getting 2-3 more years of someone else staying to develop into an impact player. Just my two cents.

Yes and no. Talbot, Raanta, Darling are just three recent examples of goaltenders that really hadn't had all too much experience before teams too fairly large chances on them. It's not out of the realm of possibility a team takes a decent chance on him along with a little baggage if they think there is a shot they get a guy they can lock up a position with.

The only reason i really have any problem at all with this signing is because Staal, Shattenkirk, and Smith are also on the same team with fairly hefty contracts. If two of those are removed from this team by season's start, this is a great signing. If not, it means we are sacrificing players on the offensive side to keep a very flawed but expensive D corps into at least another year of our future.

I still say the best course is to try and use a Georgiev as a sweetener to try and dump a salary like a staal, Smith, or shattenkirk. I’m thinking Columbus would work out nicely. You then buy out one more and have the ability to not lose a Buch and have some wiggle room. Yes it would stink to lose Georgie’s but realistically, Hank is still here two years and we do have the other option in Shesterkin, albeit unproven. Going to have to gamble with something here.

2 x 2 per for boyle would be nice. He also makes a great deadline trade piece if it looks like he's not needed here (if not in playoff contention) and offers great leadership/playoff performance if we do get to the postseason

Any chance a guy like georgiev could get packaged with a smith to a team like say, columbus, that might need a goalie and someone that fits a torts style. I assume a bit of saalry retention even though they have the space. Still though. Also.....whats bri boyle doing for a 4th line center role, slide up if necessary, leadership, trade value if the time cmes and we arent in a playoff position, say 2x2 or so?

I like the cap. I really do. What I wish is that teams had the ability for one players contract to not count against the cap. Here are the stipulations I think would be necessary to make it work. It has to be a player drafted by the team offering the contract. If that said player is delegated, it is as a "franchise" player and it has to be a flexed salary that his contract always has to be the average of the top x amount of salaries. One player per team and there has to be a minimum to the length. Let's say 3 - 5 years, can't be used twice on the same player, and a maximum of 7-8 years for the contract. Also, if ever traded, salary then has a cap hit. I'm sure there are a lot of other parts to this that would have to be explored, but something along those lines. The reason why I want to see something like this is at least it gives teams an incentive to keep a home grown talent, fan favorite, etc, and not have it destroy the clubs future. Aka the Henrik rule lol

I'd look into trying to grab Marchessault. Vegas is cap strapped but I think there is a ntc. Still worth exploring for a reasonable contract.

I really don't get the JT hate. Just because he had that look of a dick doesn't mean he's a bad player lol He's a 45-55 point player that usually can pot about 20 goals and bang bodies and pk as well. If he's overpaid, it's not by that much. I actually think he would have fit in well with the current Rangers staff and team.

So clear this up for me. From what I thought, we cn bury Smith in he minors for cap relief no? Just never call him back up, right? I'm only asking this because I see peolwn saying to buy him out.

Did he thank the Penguins for making him relevant again in the playoffs?

Pavelski is a great option to me if it cab 5x3 or so and sll gim on our dirction. Bring in the bread man and possibly trade kreids to offset his and i feel we are in a spot where year 2 of us is fullfilled.

Keep him. Try resigning him at 6.5 x 3-4 years if possible. At some point you have to keep certain players as a core and with the ability to lead all these younger players. Can't just continually be drafting and drafting.

Malkn takes about 10-15 games off routinely most years for injuries when its hard to even pinpoint when or where he got injured. No way i want a part of that, especially if its helping our rival get out of cap strangulation. Let them either deal him to the west or keep that contract and continue to roll with AHL defensemen.
