  1. Which is probably why they’d buy him out and in the process get themselves an affordable rfa to play goal instead of trying to dip into the free agent market. It’s not unheard of.
  2. He definitely is moveable. Personally I think the Sens make the most sense because they might take on the whole salary. I do get that possibly it means you get less for Georgie packaged but I look at it as a way to have more money to retain Strome, Lemieux, and ADA. Skjei is saveable so I’d rather keep him if possible. Staal in my opinion gets bought out next summer. That would give an extra 6m or so I believe which is the difference of keeping one extra of those guys probably. We also are dealing Kreider at some point this season for more assets most likely. At some point though, you have to decide if some people are keepers instead of just nonstop picks. I’d like to think at least 2 of those 3 are keepers.
  3. awful lot of teams that aren't in the greatest place goaltending wise, ev en for rebuilding teams. You can add Chicago to that list actually as well. Don't even think they have a goalie on the books for next year.
  4. Lundqvist has started 22 games, Georgiev has started 19. For the Rangers at least that's 1 and 1a. He's also 23 years old. Not like he's 31 and a career backup. I'd say a lot more teams consider him a young future starter than they do career backup. This isn't a Talbot situation. I believe he was around 27-28 when he was taking over for a hurt Henrik.
  5. I get the first part of your point but the second part makes no sense. The concept of Georgiev is that a team is trading for an NHL starter that is still cap controlled after this season. I'd be fine with changing Smith to Skjei and seeing what you can get as a package.
  6. Well im not suggesting sends NG him for pennies really. I'm just saying if they are given the opportunity to rid themselves of a contract along with the trade they should explore it if there isn't a trade option for real assets. I'm just trying to see a way we have extra money to keep ADA and Lemieux. Sometimes you're going to lose a trade if it helps in other ways. This of course is assuming they want to keep guys like Ada and lemieux of course. I'm just trying to find a way to not go into the offseason with lesser salary options.
  7. If I'm the Rangers I make two phonecalls first. One to Detroit and the other to Ottawa. I offer Georgie to both with the stipulation they also take on Smith as well. Have a chance to get a piece of a rebuild and only need one contract to take on for next year to get that. I'd even possibly take Anisimov back if that helps Ottawa with them retainijg some salary. Id rather not but I just, want Smith out of here and honestly the best chance is with him being attached with Georgie.
  8. Well Columbus and San Jose are the two more obvious ones. Now I get they aren’t in a playoff point now, but especially with SJ they did figure this year was a cup run year. Besides, right now everyone still remembers STL and how they went worst to first so for this year at least, some teams might hold onto hope a he’ll of a lot longer than years past. Montreal is a curious case because Price is doing pretty poorly this year. Minnesota as you said is another option. Besides, even a few teams not in the hunt but without a legit goalie like Ottawa would still be interested in a young goalie with upside that still has the ability to control cost since he’s an RFA and probably would take a good bridge deal at this point in his career.
  9. Yeah by deadline times, teams vying for a playoff spot usually have their goalie situation in order otherwise they probably aren’t in the hunt playoff wise. Teams locked in usually trade for insurance which doesn’t bring a large return. Now is when his value is highest, while teams on the outside looking in might give up a bit more if they think they still have a chance to turn around a season.
  10. I still think the best trade we could have made would have been during last offseason to a team that lost their goalie like Columbus, maybe throw in a contract like Smith with a little salary retention. Oh well.
  11. Lol there is no way you or your honey boo boo or whatever you call her are real people
  12. Honestly, D. Possibly C-. This roster should be performing better. It’s still a flawed roster but the additions they made should have resulted in a better position in my opinion.
  13. Well Georgiev only had 30 ahl games before his NHL call up. Think Pavelec was hurt though hence the call up but it helped show us he is NHL caliber. I’d just like to see Shesh given the chance just so next year isn’t all brand spanking new.
  14. Yeah I never said they should buy out all of them and I’ve said elsewhere they should trade Skjei for sure. I’ve seen the puckpedia site. Smith gets buried and Staal probably gets bought out in my opinion. 2m is the difference in retaining one of our other ufa or rfa or letting him walk over around 1-2m. The extra 1m for 21/22 is fine for me since Henrik and his massive contract goes bye bye. Barter, buyout, bury.
  15. Skjei, Staal, and Smith. Those 3 have to come off the books next summer to keep this team in the right direction. Obviously a tad bit of $ retention in at least one buyout but hopefully the cap goes up too.
  16. Keep in mind Shesh played tonight I think
  17. Let it be the Avs and have the jerseys be the old North Stars and Nordiques
  18. If you mean for Skjei I’d dump him for anything that doesn’t involve a contract back. I figure either Staal and or Smith are in their last year as well with buyout or bury if possible and we are pretty deep defensively. I’d rather retain a guy like Kreider if for fairly reasonable and 5 years or less if possible. Keep some of these pieces we have with Strome, Lemieux, and ADA. At some point we do have to decide if we currently have pieces for the rebuild mostly in place and let experience and talent take over hoping that 20/21 is the year we really show to be a cup contender. Hanks last year, still have Panarin mostly in his prime, Ziby as well, Fox flourishing, et al. At some point we have to have some foundation with some previously experienced players still remaining. The one thing I keep hesitating on getting rid of Kreider is his playoff experience and ability to turn up for big games here and there. I think he would be pretty vital to another cup run.
