There aren’t many scenarios to move on from Strome and get a 2c that isn’t on par contract wise/performance wise. At this point, I assume Strome takes a friendly deal. If he doesn’t? Trocheck? Gourde via trade? Copp as a permanent? Larkin? Horvat/Miller ? or if you believe this is still a longer process, you look to see what it takes to get the Habs 1st. Alf as a French Canadian + ……

I'm not moving anything. I said Copp would eventually even out and be to his regular %. Just like his production would eventually go down and he would perform more along his career averages. You mentioned Strome when I said upgrade over him and you disagreed. I thought the entire conversation was based on i think Trocheck would be an upgrade over Strome for the little things he does that Strome does not. Come on, I think we are passed the hot take terms like moving goal posts.

I’ll go by years of career averages in over 450 games with multiple teammates over 20 games on a new team. It all would eventually even out. Hell if we are just going to judge based on 20 games, then we should lock up Copp anyway since here he clearly is a 90+ point player in a full year here, right? But Im not sure what Copps slight change in faceoff % has to do with Strome at all. Copp Strome 4 years with Isles 44.2 2 years Edm 45.3 4 years NYR 45.6 he’s just not good no matter what sweater he puts on. Not everything is Strome bashing.

I wouldn’t draw much to it if it were the only stat but it’s just part of his picture. Can’t just ignore it. I’ve watched enough of his games to see it’s a part and not a focus.

Copp not being as good from the dot here has less to do with what jersey he’s wearing and more to do with guys getting used to his style, linemates, etc. it would even out eventually. Aren’t you assuming Trocheck wouldn’t do it here? I see no reason to think that. as for his injuries he played 81 games this year, 47 out of 56 games last year, 62 out of 70 games the year before.. He had one season with a major ankle injury. Hes not someone that plays like half a season every year or anything.

That’s a pretty ridiculous statement though. If anything, you’re making it arbitrary. There is a gigantic difference between a 4th liner that hits and a 2c that would be 3rd on our team in hits and 5th or so in scoring while also being our best faceoff guy at the same time.

I disagree there. He’s got fairly identical offensive stats but hits 3x more and is close to 55% from the dot. It’s an upgrade because he gives you things your missing while not dropping off offense

Trocheck. More of the realistic better play if you look to replace Strome.

Trocheck might be a decent free agent option if we moved on from Strome. much better from the dot and a definite toughness difference in terms of hitting
