And there is one specific sequence that comes to mind- Kakko really being forceful as hell with the puck behind the net, fending guys off and just playing with power. got into a double team and lost the puck, immediately went back on the attack and won the puck back.. It didn't turn into a great scoring chance, but man was it nice to see all 3 of them really aggressive on the puck. Kakko and Chytil both seem to play better when they are heads up and smiling.. Hopefully this success and confidence is nothing but more coal in the furnace.

I read the comments on the Pens Athletic story about the game. After reading the story, Sullivan’s comments and those of their fans, I apparently didn’t see a good video of the hit. According to them this was worse than the JFK assassination. The video I saw showed a shoulder to shoulder hit that wasn’t worth 2 minutes. I must have missed the guy on the grassy knoll.

Maybe so.. but in the grand scheme of things (as has been said by many here), the franchise NEEDS this kid to bust out and grab the C- be that Alpha we seem to lack from game to game.

the real troubling part is the Penguins aren't exactly a team of badasses and bullies.

He had a nice game 2 and 3 from a points perspective.. but he has been 100% invisible for long periods of time, including entire games. Points are almost like batting average, they paint part of the picture, but don't tell the whole story. Superstars are noticeable even when not on the score sheet.. Panarin, Zib, Kreider, Strome, Fox have all been invisible far too often.. This team has a bunch of "really good" but no "great" players.. Looking at that cap you'd hope to have at least one great guy.

I'd love to know what the offensive zone FO stats have been, or what the Power Play FO% has been.. not sure if those are broken-down on any sites, but it can't be pretty

Miller was disappointing a hell last night.. The 1st goal he was just sleeping and let Crosby whack away. I've always seen the adage in the NFL that a player "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane".. That's Miller WAY too often in this series.. Its completely puzzling as he was really freaking good the 2nd half of the season.

Your core was soft, is soft, and will most likely always be soft. Goodrow? Sure- no complaints what so over. He's absolutely been missed. Reaves? Ehhh - Will hit, but he was no real deterrence this year. Presumably a good locker room guy, but watching this team go full pussy in the playoffs tells me his voice might not carry much weight. And realistically, if you are bringing in an old guy, who you are paying for intangibles rather than actual skill, wouldn't a guy with rings and some real tangible winning pedigree make more sense? After watching this playoff round, I don't get the trade, and I definitely don't get the extension. Blais? - Who knows. Never had a chance to show anything. Nemeth - Straight garbage. 3 year deal is the cherry on top of that shit sundae. This series has been eye opening. The Canes/Bubble series is much closer to the reality of what this team is, not just a aberration..

Rant #1: This team has no winners.. I don’t mean that as a swipe at the team, but the only guy with that pedigree broke his ankle in game 1. Panarin presumably should, but playoff bread disappears more than Houdini. I guess with some it’s innate, others learned, and some just never get it…. And I don’t know what to make of Igor. Rant #2: The last 6 periods should answer any and all questions as to why this club doesn't have a captain. The top end guys have been really disappointing. Way too easy to play against in all aspects of the game.. Rant #3: Don’t even get me started on this team being harder to play against.. this team is softer than newborn shit.
