  1. There is zero chance that some players and refs aren't betting on games. There is just way to many people gambling for them all to be immune from it
  2. Usually it's the ref admitting to the team they missed the call. Never ever do they call a minor. I've seen major penalties called by a linesman after the fact. Never that though.
  3. Never in y life have I seen that. No call then after some complaining they call it. They are playing in Vegas. I've watched hockey for 40 years never have I seen a ref call a penalty based on a team complaining. Gambling have anything to do with it?
  4. Yup. I'd feel better if it was the Rangers unrelenting will that led to the win. In reality it was bad goaltending and an awful unforced turnover that changed the game. Kudos to the Rangers for not handing it back though, although if their was a fourth period they probably would have. Good on Kakko and Laf for coming up big.
  5. This team badly needed some luck. Bennington has been Halak awful and wtf was Barbashev doing on that Kreider goal. That was some Trouba like handling of the puck.
  6. Just curious which of those traits Mika, Kreider, Fox, and Panarin are contributing to?
  7. Has Vince ever said he reads this forum? Serious question. I see many references here that Brooks does and now Vince does. Is this actual fact or speculation?
  8. And I guess I'm Brett or Brettzky or whomever. Like I said very welcoming and respectful. It's a swamp just smells different from the septic.
  9. Huh. Not a new Ranger fan. Surprise! not new to talking about the Rangers on blogs or social media. New here at this website for sure. Here is no different from twitter, sports net, hf boards, or banter. So yeah I'm new but not new. Haven't seen a new opinion yet, mine included about this team or players. Go to any of those places and you find placeholders for every argument. The only thing new here is that some of the older members here seem to think this place is different. The only difference I would imagine is that it's them or their friends who run this board. Therefore for them it's different as they are the arbitrator of the rules as they see fit to apply them, equally or not. On every one of those places they think Larry Brooks gets his ideas from them too.
  10. It's 100% spot on. Most teams don't hand out a massive UFA contract for 7 years in the first year of a rebuild because they understand that 1: they will need the top ice time to develop their top prospects and 2: that even when the rebuild is complete the player(s) you signed to that contract is on the downswing of their career(s) and the contract(s) is hindering you in completing your team. The thought that the Rangers lucked into Laf and Kakko therefore excusing them from signing Kredier and Panarin isn't a fair assessment. The Rangers were amassing a huge number of high draft picks and drafting a large pool of top prospects. There was never any guarantee to which players would pan out. The whole point of a rebuild is tear it down and completely remake the core of your team with guys who by age and contract are going to grow into the identity of your team. Instead the Rangers once again decided the way to do that was to throw money at it and leave the kids as "passengers" like @ThirtyONEis saying. They sacrificed development for the push for a playoff berth to earn a couple extra bucks.
  11. You're right. I'm just following the example of users on here who have thousands of posts. There is no welcoming or respectful response from some users here. You're 100% right it does not make it ok for me to do the same thing.
  12. Its not trolling to point out that maybe it's not just the coaching that needs to be changed. People on here said Sullivan was an awful assistant because the pp sucked when he was here. He went to take the Pens HC job and swiftly won 2 cups. Ruff was attacked constantly. He is now leading the Devils to the best record in the NHL. Do we need to discuss Quinn? My point is simply that it is way more complicated than just blaming the coach. Firing the coach will give some people looking for a scapegoat a brief level of satisfaction. I agree with firing him for no other reason than to try something/anything to save the season. However the no structure, not getting second chance opportunities, poor gap control, no puck support, zero forecheck, lay uninspired play, being too soft, etc etc is not new to the group of players here. Quinn had the same problems and for those who were here for AV (Kreider) had the same issue too. How is that trolling pointing that out? I'm not even disagreeing with firing him. It's obvious though that firing him isn't making this team a cup contender. The roster has major flaws.. t's not a talent issue which is almost worse though
  13. Interesting that a former Jack Adams winner "doesn't know how to coach". Seems reasonable that somebody reaches the absolute pinnacle of his profession only to forget how to do his job entirely. Even after last years's playoff run most thought he was the perfect choice for this team. Now 26 games later, he's completely over his head. He's of course the easiest change but is he really what's keeping them from raising the cup, or is it possible there are other big problems being exposed. Of course in today's age it is possible that somebody who has reached the pinnacle of his profession could forget how to do his job. I mean the POTUS has no clue what the hell is going on and he didn't have a long NHL Career trading bare knuckle fists on a nightly basis.
  14. Wow it seems right that you are pompous enough thinking you speak for everybody.
  15. I assume that's you admitting I'm right. That Panarin is a lazy piece of shit who only cares about his points?
  16. That would be hard as they would be on different teams.
  17. At this point it's more likely the Rangers eat half of Panarin's contract at the deadline in order to facilitate him being traded to a contender than the Ranger's trading for Kane.
  18. No the actual issue is that when the team finally had a tiny spark. The $11.5M guy carelessly turned the puck over that led to a momentum killing power play goal for the Hawks. So good job willfully ignoring that points aren't everything. The guy has been terrible this year by any standard of his game. Him along with most of the team. Yet he makes $11.5M and the others don't. His 2 points tonight is the exact reason why you cannot just point to a players point total and say he's playing up to the standards expected. At a minimum for any professional player should be maximum effort should expected. Talent cannot be equally expected but effort form each player can. Can anyone honestly say effort describes his play in OT the other night? His game is ripe for pointing out less obvious examples. How about a 2plus minute almost 3 minute shift to start the third period tonight? Anyone care to explain how that is ok?
  19. Van they make a trade that promises they only play third string goalies and the other team's best player is on IR. Because last year's team would have gone out in 5 games if Crosby doesn't get hurt.
  20. 2 points for Panarin tonight though. Wow he's amazing. He'd played great tonight. 2 points.
  21. You cannot trade those guys and get much back that is helping you now. The cap will not work. It has to be Kreider, Fox, Mika, Panarin, Lindgren, Trouba, Goodrow, Trocheck. Now which of those guys has market value that can bring back something that makes a change. You can attach a Laf or Kakko with one of them as a big sweetener. Rangers are not and should not move Mika or Fox. Nobody would want Trouba or Goodrow at their cap. Rangers need more of Lindgren type guys not less. That leaves Trocheck, Kreider and Panarin as the only guys that make any sense.
  22. Yeah that's worked awesome for this organization. The Rangers have long been the retirement home for star players in this league. 1 cup in 100 years. Rangers have always been more interested in big names for the bright lights than winning.
  23. You really believe that NHL hockey players just forget how to play positionally? The real problem with Gallant is the same problem they had with Quinn and AV. They do not hold players accountable for their play, effort, or smarts. Yeah sure they are all quick to hold Gauthier, the kids, or a marginal player to task. The guys like Trouba, Mika, Kreider, Panarin etc have all been begging for a healthy scratch and they lose no ice time ever and get rolled out on pp1 no matter the effort. Nobody is asking to banish any of them to the press box for good but a message sent to that group would go a long way. Vesey is not the problem here folks. He competes and gets ice time because he's the best they have. Not to harp on Panarin but that effort on the game winner last night should be a moment to send a message for GG. Scratch his ass today and call him out. Send the message that half ass efforts by anyone on this team will not be tolerated.
