  1. Ok we have a couple of weeks left before the March 21 trade deadline and Shesterkin Hart trophy talk has picked up in recent days so I thought we might have a little fun and address the Hart conversation from a different angle. I think pretty much every Rangers fan would do the Igor for Connor trade but maybe not. Where does a 24 year old superstar goaltender rank in terms of his trade value relative to the other top players in the league? Is a lights-out goaltender implicitly more valuable than any forward or defenseman because of the minutes he plays? If there is a list of players around the league that you would take in a straight up trade for him, how long is that list? Who is on it? Let's simplify the question as to which players would you do a straight up trade for Igor today? So probably no Crosby or Ovechkin because their best days are behind them. Take injury history into account. My sense is that there are probably half a dozen players led by MsDavid who we would all take but then it gets a bit tricky after that. My Own List Connor McDavid Leon Daisaitl Austen Mathews Jonathan Huberdeau After that i am not sure. This is a theoretical exercise only and a little bit of fun. If you in the "it will never happen so this is a stupid conversation camp" then feel free to give the thread a pass.
  2. Miller's recent play may have taken him off the market altogether or raised his price so much that it does not make sense. Thanks Bruce Boudreau
  3. It is the nature of any market that sellers expect/hope to get a king's ransom and buyers expect/hope to take advantage of a fire sale. Until the clock running out has a sobering effect on both of them. This is not a question of why the GM has not pulled the trigger yet because the deals are not available yet. Unless you want to be the ones paying a king's ransom. We have the assets and the cap room here and we have the obligation to wait for the right deal.
  4. Depends if we are building for this year or for 2-3 years down the road. I understand the defensive talent pipeline is strong but even so, moving Scheider now might look like a GM firing offense in 2-3 years. On the other hand everybody is untouchable until they are not.
  5. We were gonna lose one of those tight ones eventually. It was a good game overall and could have gone either way. I am sure there is a tendency towards reading more into this one result than is really there. Neither team has made its trade deadline moves and one team (ours) has way more room to maneuver than the other. Good game and we will get them next time.
  6. The problem being that of those three only Edmonton might be looking for this year. The other two could afford to wait for free-agency. Unless we are able to convince them to trade for him now or risk the train leaving the station for other destinations. What would Edmonton even offer at this point given the top-heavy nature of their roster?
  7. Strome needs to spend a little time in the penalty box after his decision-making tonight,,,, Oh Wait... Joking aside... WTF?
  8. So the real question is this. Is there anyone out there who looks at the Rangers goaltending situation and thinks that Georgie has super high upside and just had the bad luck to run into a potential all time great in Shesterkin? Georgie is a bit of a sulker it seems to me and his performances have been bad when he feels hard done by. When he knows he will be in for a while because of injury to Igor his head seems to be in a different place and he plays better or even much better. If I am Edmonton I take that risk but I am not sure what they would/could be willing to offer that we would want in return.
  9. Seems like a long time since they pasted us in the first game of the year. Time to go out and recalibrate their opinion of the NY Rangers. Agree with whoever said that tonight would be a good time for Kreider to get his name back into the Goals scored column.
  10. He has not helped either us or himself to find a trade partner with his indifferent play. Given this and the fact that we do still need a backup this year I think it unlikely that anything is done at the trade deadline. I liked Georgie but he needed to show a little more.
  11. OK so that was another first period Mulligan. Feels like we are back in the Quinn coaching era.
  12. I like our current defensive pairings right now as well. If only Miller would play to his damned size a little more.
  13. You must be missing the whole part where Kincaid has moxie.
  14. How is it that the Stanley Cup runner up last year has so few players that people value?
  15. He would have been good here. With that said. Never wanted him here. Scumbag. Never trust a man with a silent "X" in his name. Amirite?
  16. Twas the night before Christmas.... 'bout effin' time No rust! We have owned these guys this year.
  17. In baseball throwing at the other team's hitters is not a punitive measure as much as it is a preventative one. You want to stop the other team from throwing at your players again by letting them know there is a cost involved if they do. Whether they are a top team or a bottom team is almost besides the point.
