  1. Why would anyone think that ll of sudden he's going into traffic? Some point through 4 rounds of playoffs the perimeter game is going to be taken from him. He's shown nothing in terms of battling through when things get tough. I'm sorry but someone making $11.5M should not have those questions surrounding his game, ever. To me guys like him should be the complementary player, not the go to guy. His money means the second, his play the first. It doesn't matchup. To me JT Miller overpaid @ $9M is better. He fills need & will play the game anyway you need. He's got edge combined with skill that should show up during the playoffs. He's proven to produce during the regular season too. Is he s talented? No, but he's wht they need
  2. Sorry but I have one keystroke not working. The first letter in the alphabet.
  3. Both. I agree with others here he's overpaid by bout $2M. I further believe that his production my deem him $9.5M guy but I don't want him on my team even then. I'd rather spend the money elsewhere. He's too perimeter for me & his playoff performance to me is not some fluke but harbinger of things to come. The Wilson incident shook him up. Frankly over his tenure here tough teams that employ tight checking gives him fits. I'm not tying my hopes in him being the guy. I'm moving on right now while my kids careers re in front of them. Igor is in his prime, I'm not wasting it tying it to guy who won't compete when things get tough. Maybe I'm too caught up in the playoff performance. However combine it with the Wilson thing & strungles with the Isles, Bruins, etc nd I'm moving on. I never implied that he's awful, ever. I just don't think one dimensional wingers should be $ like he is. I don't think it's. recipe to cup.
  4. When did I write he had down season? I think his $11.5 could be better spent. He's not t the level with those who get $ like him. Post after post refers to him 100 pt guy. He's never hit 100 points in one yr, ever. PPG yes of course. I write the sky is blue & I'm goofy & disingenuous. Some here won't even give me the facts in this discussion. Yet I'm disingenuous?
  5. He's never scored 100 pts yet you keep writing he did. I'm not trolling for correcting you. I posted his numbers, show me I'm wrong.
  6. Enlighten me. https://www.nhl.com/player/artemi-panarin-8478550
  7. WTF re you talking bout. Fact he never scored 100 points in 7 seasons in the NHL.
  8. He's never scored 100 points in season. Fact. You fucking with the numbers to fill your narrative doesn't change the point. The L regarding what? You saying he did score 100 points in one season? You're saying things that re factually not true. Then saying I don't understand. Yup I guess I don't. You write the Tktchuck's 100 point yr does nothing because he has to back it up.. He's point per game player the pst 3 yrs. Why is it different?
  9. Roughly 40 players scored point per game this season. Only 8 scored 100 points. Big difference but proceed in talking down to me & if I understand.
  10. Since you wrote this I thought maybe you didn't realize the he never score 100 points ever.
  11. I do but that's different than scoring 100 points in one season. There is 82 games in season not 100.
  12. Just for the record he's never scored 100 pts. Yet it's mentioned over nd over here
  13. Um no. I'm still saying he's overpaid. Two 100pt left wings signed this off-season for considerably less than what he gets pid.
  14. Haha. I guess you think Tkachuck's effect is just about the points he produces? He's also 24 and obviously just entering his prime right now. Panarin is hitting 31 in Oct. Tkchuck while close in points also scored 10 more goals
  15. Why don't you go back and read one of your 100 posts from playoff time when you rightly described his performance? Then maybe you will Stop. Points don't mean everything and having arguments with anybody who thinks because he scored 14 points that he was anything other than a fucking disaster in the playoffs and yes a detriment to the team in the playoffs is a waste of time. Of the 5 players you listed the only players on that list I would give Panarin's contract is Matthews and McDavid. It's not being ignored that COVID happened. No shit it happened. It's why the market changed. I'm not arguing that when he signed it was fair market value. I'm arguing that because the market changed he's now overpaid. I'm not arguing that his play is hurting the team I'm arguing that taking 20% of the cap just on his salary is a detriment to the team. I love how Pete left out Kreider and Trouba in my discussion of players who are overpaid. I don't think Kreider is at all. I think Trouba could be argued easily that he is not. Yet the thought on this board when they signed and since is that they are, which is why I listed them. However there are some disingenuous people here, mainly one, that like to needlessly make every conversation toxic. " I love how you do this". Well I listed Trouba and Kreider in that same list. Kreider who just scored 52 goals. Yet it's completely ignored. The thread needs to be closed apparently? Why? Can't you just not participate in the thread? I went away for days only to come back and read the high drama club cry about how this thread continues. You girls are unbelievable. You guys don't want to discuss and you want me to stop then let it die.
  16. His cap hit being a detriment to the team is based in fact. Buch, Vatrano, one of Copp or Strome, have all moved on because there is no more cap space to keep them. Not to mention the players they are not able to bring in because again they have no cap space. They are paper thin at center and rw. They are going with two rookies on the blue line.. They have a question mark back up goalie. The team has on paper got worse. That isn't because of anything other than cap space. This argument about Panarin's worth at the time of his signing is not the point here. If anyone is arguing that you cannot call someone overpaid because at the time he signed it was the going rate, than nobody is ever going to be "overpaid". Bobby Holik, Scott Gomez, Chris Drury, Chris Kreider, Jacob Trouba all got paid what the market dictated at the time. Circumstances over the life of the contract always change. Some players become a bargain. The only thing that matters when constructing a roster is what is the value today of a player. In my view I'd rather $11.6M to spend on other players. Of course moving him would bring back contracts. For example though: Panarin to Vancouver $11.6M out Miller to NY (signed with a new contract at $8.5M a year) plus Hollander a right wing at $1M The Rangers add two top 6 forwards, a center and right wing at a savings of $2.1M Now instead of signing Trochek the Rangers could target Kadri, Schifiele, PLD, Larkin as their number 2 center by putting Miller on the wing. (using the $2M in savings and Trochecks $5.5M) Say they just signed Kadri to make it easy. Or even Kreider. Zib Hollander Laf Kadri Miller Kravtsov Chytil Kakko Goodrow Carpenter Blais In my opinion that is a much deeper better team. They could also just not spend the money (Kadri) and save the space for next summer. Miller moves to center and Blais up to the top 6. Leaving a camp competition for the final forward spot.
  17. Of course they do. We are discussing the team as of today not years ago. Just take the L and move on. Facts matter
  18. Of course it's my opinion. I think his contract along with some others are a detriment to improving this team. The difference is I feel like the Rangers are deepest at his position and his contract being the largest is the best way to make room to improve. Of course that is my opinion. The first part of my argument is directed to posters who deemed my opinion that he is overpaid not worthy of discussion. Factors of why his contract is an overpayment can be discussed and of course is mainly the cause of the flat cap. But the reason doesn't matter. In today's competitive marketplace where you are competing against other real teams who have the same flat cap to deal with his contract is obstructive. That doesn't mean he sucks or that his signing was a bad move. It means that unfortunate circumstances have made him less valuable than his contract.
  19. Why is it so hard to understand I'm not arguing what his worth at the time of the signing. I'm not trying to put the paste back in the bottle. I'm saying after the pandemic and the flat cap Panarin's contract is out whack compared to his piers. I'm not arguing if it was a bad signing or not. I'm arguing his cap hit to today';s team is a detriment to the team going forward for what he brings and what could replace that money. Everyone here is arguing against a straw man here. In fact there is something that can be done about it. He can be traded.
  20. All rumors. He signed for $9.7M. Who cares about the circumstances. What would Panarin be worth on the open market today? It is not $11.6M
  21. I don't get what's lol about my point. We were talking Panarin being overpaid or not in today's NHL. Gaudreau signed today. Who gives a shit that the cap didn't go up. The situation changed and while Panarin's contract might have been fair when he signed it, it isn't good for the Rangers now. I argue that they should try to trade him because his contract is not good value today and it's only going to get worse. I was met with post after post how he's not overpaid. The market just spoke.
  22. Oh but you're moving the goal posts now. We were talking in today's market. I was told to watch what Gaudreau signs for. Yes the pandemic happened, it doesn't mean you approach your decisions going forward like it didn't. Fact is Artemi Panarin with this cap level is overpaid by $2M a year. I was told to take the L. with no facts other than opinion. Fact is Johnny Gaudreau is a pretty close comparable to Panarin. He got $2M less to play in Columbus, yes Columbus.
