With that defensive pairing, Sgt. Hynes has no idea what the hell he is doing and the defense in general for New Jersey has been lackluster to nonexistent. Hynes has been consistently outcoached thus far this season by the likes of Paul Maurice, Dave Tippett, and now, Joel Quenneville. Hynes as been outcoached by these veteran coaches when he has the final change. As a matter of fact, NJ has been 0-18 on the PP. That is inexcusable considering the level of talent Shero brought in. Changes need to come to NJ sooner rather than later, but that might not happen because the Devils organization has been silent. But the narratives will be interesting tonight. Hughes vs. Kakko. TOR Overpaid Marner by about $2.4 million AAV and now have his contract alongside Tavares and Matthews (in which all three players are very good) but there are some TOR fans expecting a $4M difference between Marner and Nylander. Being with all things considered, they could've signed Marner, Matthews, and most of their RFAs in free agency. Now they are tied up in cap hell and they need to win right now. That has been the Achilles' heel that the Mets failed to improve in the deadline.

I do see truth in that. Give your best starters at least 2-3 innings each because you don't want to use that thing you call a bullpen because that Mets bullpen can't be trusted when they are ahead late in the game. Players like Staal and Shatty don't have the skills they had in their Prime and when they do talk about these "intangibles", it reinforces the narrative that they aren't able to maintain that they aren't the players they were.

Yankees have not been looking to great right now. The starting pitching has been a real problem by losing in humilating fashion in three games (maybe four) in Boston. Which is why NYY needs to get an ace such as Wheeler, and Stroman. DON'T GET SYNDERRGARD! The Mets are looking for too high of a price to trade Thor. Watch they won't retain his salary.
