  1. Guentzel is so fucking good. We all watched this dude score 8 goals in 7 games against the Rangers two years ago right? He probably should've scored a few more too. If you can acquire him without trading Perreault or Othmann fucking do it. Worry about retaining him in the summer.
  2. That's correct re: the AHL roster playoff eligibility. The Rangers would get some temporary cap space from having both Rempe and Edstrom down, but figure you need to keep enough to recall one of them.

  4. I don't get the impression that we'll see a Rempe fight tonight unless something just happens organically. As much as he's tuning out the noise, everyone in the hockey world is practically pleading for him to just not do this every game. He also wants to play hockey. Laviolette wants him to play hockey: "He's not learning in the (penalty) box," Laviolette noted. I think he'll be spending more time on the ice than in the penalty box tonight.

I don't know what the next day brings. If I just do my job, that's all I can control.” - Matt Rempe GIF to LOL:
  6. No. It just means that his AHL salary is equivalent to his NHL salary. One-way or two-way contracts have nothing to do with waivers.
  7. Wischusen is the best PBP that ESPN has by far. He should be on the main team, not McDonough.
  8. If Rempe makes his debut on Sunday, he'll be doing it on the anniversary of his father's unexpected passing. Can't think of a better way to make dad proud. Rooting for the kid to make his debut on the big stage. https://theathletic.com/1909446/2020/09/08/prospect-matt-rempes-late-blooming-push-hes-on-this-exponential-curve/
  9. Have a good time. There should still be some guys to look out for: Berard plays opposite Othmann and has been a near P/GP since the new year. 15 points in his last 16 games. He has plenty of speed and likes to shoot. Sykora isn't much of a producer, but he's always engaged and if his line with Blid and Henriksson remains intact, it should be the most consistent line you see. Scanlin is the only one worth paying attention to on defense. The Rangers just re-signed him and he could be in the running for a spot on the team next year given his waiver status.
  10. I think I’ll be passing on this one. 2014 and 2018 were cold enough that I have zero desire to wear that many layers to a game. Hopefully it’ll be warmer for those of you attending.
  11. Probably because they're reported to be shopping Jones and Robertson as Vince later writes in the article: And not your belief that Anaheim explicitly needs Jones as a PMD because you didn't know about Mintyukov and Zellweger.

  13. Highlighting some of the names that haven't already been discussed ad nauseam. Vince doesn't have anything new about them. Ducks Predators Senators Sharks Kraken https://www.lohud.com/story/sports/nhl/rangers/2024/02/08/ny-rangers-possible-trade-deadline-partners-latest-news/72509626007/
  14. I doubt it. He was signed to an $800k deal. Why would any team sign him when they otherwise could've claimed him? Is a team really going to sign him for $30k less? He's done. I don't think anyone wants him.
  15. The Rangers have 1st round picks in 2024, 2025 and 2026. They only have a 2nd round pick in 2024. They only have a 3rd round pick in 2026. They don't have the draft capital to get cutesy with conditionals. At most, they could probably have their 2nd in 2024 upgraded to a 2024 1st or 2025 1st.
  16. You started by quoting me. If you don't want so much of my opinion, don't keep asking for it. Nice cute ending, though.
  17. Except the trade wouldn't be Jones plus Sykora/Berard and some lower-value picks. Given the Monahan and Lindholm returns, do you seriously think Henrique plus Vatrano with an extra year is worth a package you've called scraps before in a separate context? There's going to at least be a first-round pick in this deal. That's another issue I take with it. This deal is going to cost more than Henrique and Vatrano are truly worth. I have no problem trading Berard or Sykora. I'm not trading them in addition to a first-round pick and whatever else for two players I don't think move the needle enough.
  18. I don't think Henrique and/or Vatrano adequately enough address the Rangers' problems. That's my issue. And I don't believe you like either of them enough either. So what's the problem here?
  19. And I'm far more likely to trust what Vince says over Staple. One is plugged in. The other is not.
  20. Sykora is 5'11" and 192 at 19. He's not tiny and doesn't play that way. I don't make this particular trade. I don't think Henrique is worth the bidding war that's likely being had for his services and throwing Vatrano in only raises the cost of this trade. It's not just trading Berard or Sykora I have issue with, it's that you're also trading them along with whatever draft capital for two players who aren't worth that package. I'd pay more for a player or players who actually have longer-term impact. It's not that I wouldn't make any trade, but definitely not this trade. This team has an organization-wide speed problem. Sykora and Berard are likely on the team within the next year to year and a half. They're what the team has been missing. If I'm moving either it's in a deal that addresses their speed issue going forward as well. This deal ain't it.
