  1. Miller chases because the forwards don’t support well enough. Miller isn’t the only one to do so either. Trouba and Schneider are both guilty of chasing and conceding the slot. It’s a lack of awareness from all parties. If both of your defensemen are out of the slot, you should have a center smart enough to know to cover.
  2. Fast isn’t good? Yeah that’s about all I needed to read.
  3. Right. And going by everything we’ve learned about the incoming staff, he’ll be leaned on heavily.
  4. You’re diminishing his improvement as though you have a vendetta against him. Becoming a strong defensive player isn’t a beneficial trait? I’m sorry, but that’s flat out ridiculous. Who cares how or why he became the player he is? Anton Stralman was a failed PTO with the Devils. Did he not find a way to become an impactful defender? Using a PTO as means of diminishing a player’s contributions shows that you haven’t much of an argument. Vesey went from this: to this: He’s an exceptionally good role player who can slot up in the lineup. He’s found his niche and chose to stay here in NY because it’s where he’s comfortable. But sure let’s shit on the player for taking a discount and staying where he’s comfortable. I’m also not surprised you hold this opinion of Vesey because you held the same for Fast. And you were undoubtedly wrong about Fast given the tireless efforts the Rangers have made to replace him. I don’t think you’re capable of appreciating a good defensive player.
  5. Will I have access to Pete during the downtime?
  6. And there’s a strong emphasis on what the Rangers were lacking in. That first quote about knowing how to apply pressure properly is something the Rangers need to work on. They either didn’t support each other or did so in ways that weren’t anticipatory of the following play. Proper support goes a long way.
  7. I’m really intrigued by this hire. He started off as a video coach and has kept progressing up the ranks. https://thecoachessite.com/usa-hockey-ntdp-coach-dan-muse-at-tcs-live/ https://www.iihf.com/en/events/2023/wm18/news/43158/rookie_coach_brings_voice_of_experience I think we’re still waiting on one more hire. If the reports from Friedge earlier are correct, it’ll be Phil Housley.
  8. Paul Stastny ripped them on the way out too calling some of them too self-interested. Wheeler is not the guy you want leading your team.
  9. Whatever pro scout identified him deserves tons of credit. I’m gonna credit Steve Eminger for no other reason than I feel like it. Vesey is pretty much everything we expected from Goodrow for 1/4 of the the price.
  10. Jimm Vesey isn’t the same player he was in his last stint here. If you don’t think he’s any better or has changed his approach then you’re not watching close enough or not watching the right thing.
  11. Savard wasn’t a rumor, his name was thrown in by Brooks as someone they should pursue not someone they will. With Peca’s responsibilities being the PP and likely some form of dev work, he makes Savard unnecessary.
  12. I remember finding out they were letting go of Nylander from some kid during summer camp. I was not happy.
  13. Despite knowing how things turned out, I can still feel the hope emanating from this video. By far my favorite opening they’ve done. The bit with that generation’s “kids” always gets me in the feels.
  14. https://theathletic.com/4553117/2023/06/13/nhl-draft-2023-scouts-executives-reports-observations/
  15. Good. Throw everything at them next summer for Elias Pettersson.
  16. The consensus is that this is a particularly strong draft at the top. I don't know if that holds regarding its depth going into later rounds, but some weird movement could result in some really talented players ending up in the mid-second. The Rangers at 23 are in a good spot to get a faller or move up slightly to get their guy.
  17. No, but by 23 there's going to be some kind of blemish be it effort, skating, skill, size, etc. It becomes more of a game of outweighing the negatives with what positives exist.
  18. He was also considered a slightly off the board pick at the time. Lots of raw talent and not the physically developed man he is today. He worked summer after summer with Ben Prentiss to fill out his frame.
