  1. I don't understand the logic behind this statement. Chytil played in Hartford his first year and didn't tear it up either, but yet he was sent back this year to work on things.

Andersson is better off in Hartford getting top minutes, working on his game and building confidence offensively, than getting 6-7 min of ES time with Haley and Smith.

I agree. I don't think his development is being served centering the 4th between two trees.
  2. Panarin Zib Strome

    Kreider Chytil Kakko/Buch

    Lemiuex Howden Buch/Kakko

    McKegg Lias Fast

Dont think they would do that top line based on a need to balance.

    I see:

    CK - MZ - PB/JF/KK

    AP - RS - JF/PB/KK

    BL/BH - PC - KK/JF

    GM - LA - BS/JF

After DQ split up the Bromance of AP and MZ the lines started to show some more balance in scoring.

I still cannot believe LA is buried on the 4th without anyone to help. I can see that changing once the TDL approaches and the team makes some moves and possibly traded CK, BS, & anyone else who could bring back a decent return.

Also, I do believe that Kratzov will be coming back, he wasn't given a real shot to show what he could do and I can see his return right around the TDL when there will be some more open slots.

As much as I like DQ, I'm not thrilled about his line combinations and how he doesn't always put players in the position to really succeed and excel. There has to be some balance between the lines in order to allow the team to provide constant pressure, line to line.

    Time will tell.

  3. That takes him to 32... he's not a grinder, his game is not predicated on speed or skill, he's just really smart, and makes really good choices. That doesn't stop at 29.
I like Strome. I was impressed by his play last year after the trade, now I really like him after his performance with Breadman. I can see him staying with the team.

When Zib returns, Strome maybe stays with AP. However that would mean that Chytle would center 3rd with possibly Kakko on the wing. I'm interested to see how those two kids play together, maybe some success? But who would be the other wing? Lemiuex? Someone who can keep up, create space and protect is needed.

Time will tell as soon as Zib comes back I would be interested to see how DQ mixes it up again.

  4. The more I read those posts and see him play, the less I'm believing that he will play out his contract with the team.

His stock is not really high, so a return won't be that much right now unless he is packaged with another prospect, RFA.

Wondering if he could be heading to Edmonton sometime soon with a chance on getting back JP and another salary relief for Edmonton.... I can see it happening.

  5. I?m in agreement with you on them not having leverage with Puljujarvi. I?m saying they should find a fair deal and move him.

I disagree on the 3rd party and cap issue. It doesn?t have to include actual money if you?re moving a pick or prospect.

No one should have to eat salary or take a player they (Edmonton) want to move out to facilitate a trade.

Right now he?s just sitting there. No contract. Playing elsewhere. Made it clear he wants a fresh start in a new locale. He?s not coming back.

Don?t wait. What if he gets hurt? Then he has zero value. Already had double hip surgery.

Get an asset and pull the trigger.

Return is secondary at this point. For a few reasons

    1) He hasn?t done enough to warrant a significant return, so they needn?t obsess over getting one.

    2) He?s not coming back to them and doesn?t want to be there.

    3) Its a distraction that the front office has to deal with and every time it comes up it makes them look incompetent and dysfunctional as an organization. Which they?ve been hearing for years. They should want that to stop

Just get him out of there.

    Good point.

Reason I bought up Salary is that Edmonton cannot afford another player, pick yes, but they, according to cap friendly have 32.2k in space, that's not enough for the team to even add another player to their roster.

They need to shed salary and that's probably what they want in any trade for him.

  6. I'll actually give you a few reasons here:

1 - The Oilers don't really have "bad" contracts on their roster anymore. They have some middling questionables, and a few (Sam Gagner, Brandon Manning) that they're glad will end this year, but no bads.

2 - What you could see as "bad" contracts are as follows: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, expires 2021, 6m/year, Kris Russell, expires 2021, 4m/year. Both expire right as our bads do.

3 - Check next years UFA market. It's Hall, big drop, Tyson Barrie, Kreider, big drop, depth players. We're not in the market for either a PMD or a wing. We should be very, very quiet.

Long way of saying "I don't really care if we end up taking some cap relief from Edmonton because it shouldn't matter to us enough to block a trade"

I didn't say Edmonton has "Bad" contracts, I said they have no cap space. They have under 34k is available space.

I'm not for or against the trade. I would like to see the Rangers pick him up but at what cost? That's the key.
