  1. I was kinda disappointed about CK going instead of Zib....but after reading this, it may be that they are allowing other teams to "test drive" or really taste the product prior to purchase.....he better show some skills and start a bidding war for him.

    I can see three or four teams in a long drawn out battle to acquire him.

    St. Louis

    Boston

    Nashville

    Arizona

    Dallas

    Winnipeg

    All these teams and possibly more would benefit from his skill set and make a run into the playoffs.

    If he ends up in Boston, he may certainly end up with a cup this year, they are that good.

  2. I believe you are thinking of the 35+ age contracts. Henrik signed his before he was 35 and those other contracts like aLuongo were meant to circumvent the cap so the latest bargaining agreement penalized those type of contracts retroactively if a player retired.

    Think that?s basically right lol

    Makes sense

    @NYCKrash

  3. I'd amend that - long UFA-age contracts don't work. I'm not sure I can recall a long contract awarded to a young RFA (24 or younger) that backfired and wasn't an attempt to circumvent the cap.
    Long term contracts with NMC don't work....have to be able to have an out in the case it doesn't work out.

  4. I?m kind of on that train with ADA too.

    Love to have him here for a while, but if he?s their 3rd pairing RD, maybe a bridge of 2 years and a really nice increase is best.

    Much as I hate to mess with the chemistry on Strome and Panarin, I think Strome only gets a 1 year arb award and that?s it

    for him.

    As for what I?d be willing to do,

    Strome 4/$19 million for a $4.75 cap hit

    ADA 5/$28.75 million for a $5.75 cap hit

    But they probably go 1 year on Strome through arb and a bridge on ADA

    That does sound good to me....or even slightly less on team friendly deals.

    @NYCKrash

  5. Regarding ADA

    I don't see how we can keep D'Angelo. If we didn't have 5 prospects in the pipeline like we do, I'd say yeah sure. Nothing wrong with having a guy like ADA. He's tough, can skate well and has very good offensive capability.

    BUT

    He's a defensive liability and he's going to do 2 things:

    Block a prospect that may very well be better at what we need him for: Defense

    Take up very valuable cap space that we're going to need down the pike a bit.

    ADA is not likely to take a friendly deal now that he's hot and also since the Rangers made him wait with his current deal.

    Kreider's done here...

    Strome I'm not sure yet. I can't make up my mind on him just yet....I keep flipping back and forth on him.

    Those prospects he will be blocking such as Lundqvist or Miller may need some more time with the Pack to develop. It could be two or three seasons before they are regular in the NHL lineup. By that time ADA may be moveable.

    No matter what is done with Strome, ADA, Fast, they have to stop giving NTC to everyone.

    @NYCKrash

  6. They need to keep him.

    He?s definitely helped by playing with Panarin. And his shooting percentage has normalized quite a bit, down to around 16%, like a 7% decline over where he was at, which we all expected and knew was unsustainable.

    But those two have chemistry, he?s at a point per game pace, and he?s at that seemingly significant 7th season mark in career for guys who get drafted high and enter the league at 18-20. Many guys come into the league at that age, kind of struggle, play at a middling level, bounce around a little, but they get to the stage and age he?s at now, on the right team and place, find some chemistry and take off.

    I think that?s what?s happened with him.

    I agree, he has found himself and a home in NY. Now, playing with Panarian helps but don't discount how well he played after coming to the Rangers last year. I don't think he would be producing to the level with Panarian but he is an asset to the team. They have to find a way to re-sign him.

  7. This time I promise not to go into the ladies room...they couldn't get me out last time we were there!! :rofl:

    Hey big guy!! One of these days we have to coordinate a trip with you. I don't think MSG is ready for the 3 of us at the same time, but we'll try not to make the evening news this time!! ;)

    Not to invite myself.....but I would be up for an excursion to a game with some of you all.

    @NYCKrash

  8. Fans seem pretty hyped for this. I imagine he?ll get a good response at the Garden. Hell, there were IG-OR chants during a preseason game.
    Funny that they chant HENRIK and in the one preseason game I went to they chanted IGOR....when Gorgie is in net all you hear is crickets.

    @NYCKrash

  9. I know that the team has some very tough decisions to make for the future. I'm a huge Henrik lundqvist fan and have been for his entire career since I watched him steal the position from Kevin Weeks. I also understand that I root for the Jersey and not the player. If I ran the team, which I don't, but if I did I would love to move a big contract player as an add-on to anyone who wants Kreider. For example Smith, Staal (if he waives his NTC), Buch, Skjei, or whatever else it takes to reduce the cap hit. Hopefully Henrik will hang them up since he obviously isn't able to compete at his elite level anymore. We need to stop buying out players and actually start paying for talent we have in our organization.

    This team really needs to keep Strome. And apparently playing with Zibanejad on a regular basis brings the best out in Krieder. I guess this month to 6 weeks will really show us everything leading up to the trade deadline.

    There's nothing more I hate in the NHL than a hard cap. I will say this about the Boston bruins, they have figured out how to keep a lot of talent at a low cost what's so many team-friendly contracts. JG worked for Boston and now he works here so maybe he can eventually get that kind of cohesion between organization and players in place. It's the only way will be able to be competitive for years to come otherwise our players will price themselves out of the team's ability to pay them.

    John Davidson will get this ship in the right direction, it's just going to take some time to overcome some of the contracts we have taken on.

    @NYCKrash

  10. I don?t think most people (I mean within the rangers organization) want to lose Kreider but there is no way to give him the $$ he wants without then having to make other moves. And between shattenkirk cap hit, hank staying put, staal staying put and panarins contract I don?t think there?s a chance of that. Better to trade him and get something of value rather than watch him walk away for nothing.

    The only other scenario I can see playing out is the team giving him a 1 year extension close to what he makes now and then negotiates a contract starting a year from now when they have more cap space.

    If it makes you feel better Elliott?s Friedman said on sportsnet that 4 teams have expressed interest even though the rangers haven?t officially put him on the market.

    I dunno what Strome is going to ask for money wise but I?d keep him for sure If the price tag is appropriate. I?ve liked him a lot since they first got him.

    Me too..... I saw his talent last season and this season Panarian has been able to unlock Stromes full potential.

    @NYCKrash

  11. ;995552]Strome. I love him. Definitely a keeper. I see the point in keeping Kreider as well, but I just don?t think he?s going to be worth his next paycheck.
    I agree. If Panarian keeps playing with Strome and Zibanejad can continue to bring out the best in CK20 then it can make for a hell of a one two punch for our offense.

    Need to continue to develop Chytle and Kakko and we could go with 3 very potentially dangerous lines.
