couldn't agree more. Doesn't make him a stud but he's at least competent in his own end and in front of the net . Somebody has to actually play defense.

[brooks] Why Kevin Shattenkirk Will Soon be Rangers Salary-Cap Casualty
Scott replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
He gets his money either way, no? Why not get bought out and maybe have a better option for less money per year but it will be on top of his buyout. It's summer and I'm probably missing something. -
[brooks] Why Kevin Shattenkirk Will Soon be Rangers Salary-Cap Casualty

I don't think there's any scenario where you can keep him for the whole season and let him walk. That would be a terrible thing to do. We're not winning a cup this season so what's the point? There isn't one. -
they're more than likely gonna be squeezed because they can be, that's how the cap system works more often than not especially for bottom six type guys. As Brooks pointed out they either accept their qualifying offers of $874k or they don't play in the NHL this season that's the hammer the team has at this point . We disagree on tthe value of ADA so be it.

I think they nailed this one, he got what he's worth on $$ and term. No way he deserved a long term deal. Now squeeze ADA out the door :) Lemieux is going to and should be squeezed as well. He plays hard and is a grinder probably a fourth line player on a really good team. He brought excitement to a door mat team but no reason to over pay or over commit to him at this time.

confirmed: Rangers Sign Vinni Lettieri to 1-Year/$700K Extension
Scott replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
who cares we're not trying to play against him. He's a plug at the nhl level who's shown no signs of breaking out. As for the bottom six I would rather see new blood than guys that have failed to prove much here already. He'll be plenty good for Hartford and there's something to be said for that. -

He seems to enjoy peppering the end boards quite a bit with his shot. -
[brooks] The Salary-Cap Hell the Rangers are Still Trying to Navigate

I wonder how many of his points were assisting on an Ovi snipe? -

Terrible NHL player. Give him the C in Hartford and wish him good luck. He's one dimensional and that dimension is not being good enough. Sure he's a great guy blah blah blah. -
What's the federal tax rate in CA if there is one? Don't players lose at least 50% right off the bat here in the US. So the starting point for their US accumulated contracts is half of the publicly announced value.

He comes across as a hard headed guy who probably feels he excels at both ends already. Honestly I don't think he's all that good offensively either. Would be fine without him. I don't see him as a part of the long term solution. -

Moving ADA is more than fine with me. Could he get better on the defensive end sure but I highly doubt it. I think he looks good offensively but at times it's just in comparison to how bad he is going the other way. -
confirmed: Rangers Re-Sign Jacob Trouba to 7-Year/$56M Extension; $8M AAV
Scott replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
sums it up for me too. Hopefully it works out, god bless his heart for getting all he could, but yeah...... -

Overpaid, hopefully it works out. Certainly top dollar imo. -

What's real contention for a playoff spot, cup? Series question in the middle of the summer for conversation sake. There's a shitload of kids up front not talking about Kakko in this case. But a whole handful of guys that have to pick their collective games way up. Hopefully none of them crap out but it's also pretty unrealistic to think they all progress. Panicking, nope not at all but there's a ton of questions to be answered once the cap issues are settled. Hoping for the best. -

That's looking like it could be a long year with two high quality NHL'ers, Kakko and who's knows what. -

Capfriendly has it as a NMC throughout the entire contract. -

confirmed: Pavel Buchnevich, Jacob Trouba File for Arbitration
Scott replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
I would never in a million years give Buch an 8 year deal. The kid barely has a pulse and 7 out of 10 games he loses a friend or his dog. I've never seen anybody cry during a meaningless game like he did. -
confirmed: Rangers, Kakko Agree to Entry-Level Contract
Scott replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
Not sure anybody is thinking parade but I completely agree tapping the brakes is probably a good call. So many players some are counting on haven't played a game at this level and I still think we have a ton of question marks like guys that showed very little last year or just not enough to be difference makers. -
article: Upcoming Season Could Provide New Lias on Life for Rangers? Andersson
Scott replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
They both have a long long ways to go. Hopefully at least one of them gets there but for now the jury is out. More questions than answers after their play last season. I would of hoped to see some kind of progress as the season went on but if anything it was the opposite especially for Howden. Lias just never showed anything from the get go. Hopefully it changes this year. -
Which Rangers Player Will Show the Most Improvement in 2019-20?
Scott replied to BrooksBurner's topic in New York Rangers
yeah you're right it's crazy to think Kakko will get off to a better start than Lias. Those linemates held him back from showing off his quick first step too. Hell he should play with is back to the play near the net so his ass can maybe score another goal. The kid who was touted by some for his fierce play and need to win (see throwing the medal) showed zero. Could he get better sure because there's nowhere to go but up if he's going to stick at this level. If we're not handing out slots based on draft position Lias will end up back in Hartford.
