I'm not sure Kreider would be as timid. Kreider is also at a different point in his career (age). I dunno Josh man....I can't see Kreider burying his head in the sand this season...and think about it...Zucc, if he resigns over there will fetch us yet another #1 pick for 2020. Either way I still think we'll win on the Kreider front

I agree man, they're in a pretty decent spot with him right now. We should get a ton from him this year! ...and that bodes well for us in many ways ;)

An experienced center that can kill penalties would be clutch; The Rangers were absolutely awful on faceoffs last season (30th) and they can also use a penalty killer, considering our PK was 27th. Even if it's a older guy we sign for a year or has one year left on a deal.

I think Pete's right on this one. There really is no hurry. Kreider is still under contract for this season, and should best be playing his ass off this season for a future contract, with whomever it may be. That in itself can light a fire under his ass, and it kills 2 birds with one rock: A) He'll up his value considerably for a trade at the deadline to a contender B) We can also just decide to keep him and offer him an extension For the first time in a long time, the Rangers are holding the cards, and we have a lot of bargaining power with the fact that a generational talent is headed our way, and plenty of young studs on their way up!

I don't see any way in creation the Devils pass on Hughes. My gut tells me this kid brings everything to the table for them. Hughes is going to be the best, if not, one of the best play making centers in the game for the next 15 years. There's no way the Rangers could've had this fall any better for them.

For the first time in what's seemingly forever, I just have a very comfortable feeling that the Rangers will do the right thing for both the player and the team. I'm actually not very worried about it, to tell you the truth! Gorton has been nothing short of a fucking magician thus far and JD will only bring even more stability to this franchise as time goes by. If Kreider stays, fine...they'll make it work. If Kreider gets dealt...they'll get some serious return for him. Either way, I think we're going to be in great shape moving forward.

I really don't even see a downside to this; I mean, even if he doesn't like it here, for whatever reason, we can easily get back a #1 at the trade deadline for him next season. I think Kakko has more potential than Svechnikov, Gravy. I just don't think the Rangers get a lot of players like Kakko, or Hughes. Either one of those guys is going to make everyone around them a better player in my opinion. I think the only thing stopping Kakko from being a success right away on this team is if the Devils go crazy and draft him first! LOL Hughes I think needs some time in the cooker, not Kakko. Kakko reminds me a little of Selanne...albeit Teemu came to the NHL at age 22 and was more physically developed. He also put up 132 points, won the Calder trophy! LOL But yeah man, it's exciting for a guy who sat on a bar stool watching his boys go in the toilet for a shot at a #1 pick all winter. I'm actually not too worried about Hank anymore. We have some time before this squad is ready to rock and his contract will be up by then. Besides, JD speaks fluent "goalie" and I think they'll come to terms on what's going to go down. I'm cool with Hank playing it out here. No need for buyouts and wasting picks. We have other shit that needs to be sent packing first. At least Hank can contribute and compete at a decently high level still.
