  1. I don't think it can be. This line has never worked. They're not a playoff line and they weaken the rest of the team.
  2. I agree with this. The guys we got are 3rd and 4th liners. Laf - Chytil - whoever isn't a playoff caliber 3rd line. You can use Laf on the 1st line effectively and not lose anything. You can use Kakko on the 2nd line effectively and not lose anything. if you put them both on the 3rd line, you don't have a 3rd line.
  3. For me, Vatrano and Copp are both playing higher up the lineup then they should be. Vatrano moreso than Copp. He had a great start here but he's not going to sustain those point totals. I agree however that there's not an obvious spot for Kakko. It was 2nd line RW until Copp proved he can play there. Kakko wasn't very good on the top line so I don't think he's the answer there either. I wish he'd get back sooner rather than later so Gallant can play with the lines to see what works.
  4. I think that was probably the first time Gallant has over thought something all season. I don't care how good someone is playing in a game, if they're not your most skilled player, you don't put them in a skills competition. You would certainly never see Reaves in the SO, even if he had a hattrick in the same game. Amazing comeback. But it would have stung slightly less if Fox missed the final shot.
  5. Maybe. I could see him getting a 1 year show-me deal with a garbage team like Arizona where he splits time
  6. True but you'd have to assume the MSG fans are gonna be animals in the playoffs. It's been a while since we've seen meaningful hockey. I think that's an advantage.
  7. I don't think this needs to be asked anymore. It was discussed ad nauseum when he was hired. Vegas pumps and dumps. Florida wanted analytics. Case closed. He's nothing like Pat Riley or John Tortorella. He's a players coach. Universally loved by his players. Sometimes management wants something else.
  8. I mean up until the deadline, this team was (according to fans) worse on paper than last years team. David Quinn over coached. He panicked when shit got tough. He shuffled lines 1 shift into the game. He wasn't an NHL coach. Gallant is ride or die with his players. He stands up for them in the media. He never panics. He leaves the lines alone for 20+ games at a time. It's really no surprise to me that the players are responding well to that. I mean, it's basically the same. exact. team. I don't think there's a clearer example of why coaching matters in the NHL.
  9. I hope they have home ice vs the pens. I think that's the best chance they have at moving on to the second round. Personally, I don't really want to play Boston or Washington, so if they can maintain where they're at for the next few weeks, I'll be thrilled. Hopefully they don't have to cross paths with the Canes at any point. Or if they do, at least give the Canes a chance to get beat up by someone first.
  10. I mean, there's a reason Kincaid hasn't played in the NHL in 2+ years. I too am frustrated that Georgiev sucks ass, but he at least stood on his head against the Canes. He is capable of being better than dogshit. I dunno if Kincaid has that same capability.
  11. They need a Marty Biron type next season. I dunno who that is -- and hopfully Hertl doesn't retire him -- but they need that older guy who's a proven backup.
  12. I could be wrong because I haven't actually watched any games, but I'm pretty sure Kincaid has had a mediocre year in Hartford.
  13. Miller and Trouba are a very good 2nd pair. I think them finding their games this year has changed everything. Now Schneider steps in and he's great. Nemeth's demise is over stated and Philly's 1st pair Dman is our 7th. It's pretty outrageous depth and it's become a strong part of the team.
  14. Well if you have Kincaid, Igor, and Georgiev why would you sign Halak or anyone else for that matter? I think Georgiev has always been shaky but his career has certainly fallen off a cliff this year. We all know Drury was shopping him but clearly no one else in the league values him. I'm sure he could have gotten a 4th or something for him, but is that really worth it? I'd say no. I think we can all just be happy when this season's over and they walk away from each other.
  15. I mean the Rangers have drastically cut down on shots against. They've drastically cut down on odd man rushes against. Last night should have been a 4-0 win. When your goalie saves a shot into his own goal, you are in trouble. Georgiev did nothing to relieve the team who was playing back to backs, and yet again, they bailed him out. IMO, this is the best defensive group this team has had in years. Is Igor the best goalie in the game? Yes. But the team defense has gotten much stronger over the course of the season, and right now they're very good. If you can continue to hold teams to 24, 25, 26 shots a night, they're going to win most of those games.
  16. I think last night vs the Wings is one of the worst goalie performances I've seen from a Ranger in my lifetime -- and we've had some horrendous goalies. I don't care if they get nothing for him. He truly will be addition by subtraction.
  17. I remember when Jagr was scoring all those goals that season, it felt ridiculous. For some reason Kreider's total doesn't seem that surprising. I have no idea why. Maybe because most of his goals have been ugly? Either way, I hope he gets it. That would be an amazing cap on the season.
  18. The playoff system sucks. Every year it's the same teams playing each other. Rivalries can't be manufactured this way. Luckily we have some new teams in the mix this year but I'm not interested in watching the Leafs and Bruins play for the 40th time, even if it is a "rivalry."
  19. This team is a different animal with the new additions. I love how Copp plays the game. If Igor can stay healthy, we might actually be able to do some damage this year. 1st round match up against the Pens would be a lot of fun.
  20. Again, this isn't an example of "sitting on a player too long" until their value is worthless. This is a case of no one wanting to pay (therefore trade for) Buchnevich. To pretend that Drury has a track record at all, let alone a track record of sitting on players until they're worthless, is downright comical. The guy's been GM for less than 12 months. He hasn't had time to sit on anything.
