  1. Well I'm a student. In reality what I should be doing, since I continue to live at home, is an unpaid clerkship with a judge. I can get one of those as soon as I ask, one judge has been a friend of the family for decades. So this isn't my career, it's a seasonal (over the summer) stopgap of supplementary income, you know? That said, it's pretty good money. But I feel like I'm at an age where I'm tired of taking shit. Anyway, I asked on here to make sure it wasn't an in-the-moment overreaction.
  2. Question for you folks: is a lack of respect a reason to quit a job? It's decent money, but my boss curses me out in front of customers. Meanwhile, I'm 25 years old and taking the bar exam next summer. I'm not a 17 year old kid anymore. I sat down with him and told him that if he had a problem with the way I'm doing my job then he should talk to me, not make his default reaction calling me a fucking dumbass with customers around. He agreed, and yet has continued to do so. Bear in mind that this place is corrupt as hell, so taking it to higher-ups will result in firing, which is worse for a resume than just bowing out gracefully. Is a total lack of respect a valid reason for quitting? Or is it an overreaction on my part?
  3. Well to a certain extent that's kind of how the books go. Like the Red Wedding, IIRC, came about 75-80% of the way through the book. It's usually that the penultimate episode is where all the good stuff happens, and then the last episode is used as a set-up for next season. Anyway, I was happy with last night's episode overall. Stayed true to the story and adequately set up the plot lines for next season.
  4. Well he was in the episodes prior to this one. I just don't remember which. It might have been Season 1, 2, or early in Season 3. Whenever Robb crosses the bridge for the first time. Either way, nobody else knew who he was, and neither did any of my friends who haven't read the books.
  5. Watched it with the family tonight, none of whom had read the books. They all were asking me, "who is that guy?" when they saw Walder Frey. As far as portraying the events, well done. But with people who haven't read the books, they have a hard time recalling who Walder Frey is and why he's important. I mean, I know they kept mentioning it in the episodes before tonight, but my brother didn't remember Frey from Season 2 at all.
  6. Eh, Catelyn's concerned for her kids which is something any mother (even Cersei) would do. And yes, she spends about the same amount of time as Sansa whining. The point is that she does something about it, and has no delusions about some hero-figure coming to rescue her. Granted, she's the worst of the comparisons in my list, and was only tossed in to make a point via exaggeration, which obviously ultimately undermined my point. But like I said, at this point it's all opinion. I hate Sansa, do not feel bad for her, and feel she fails to live up to the Stark standard of awesomeness. That is all.
  7. The point is, for me at least, the reactions among the Stark children. Everyone else is doing something proactive about their plight while Sansa waits for rescue. And NYRangers92, I agree with you. It's done intentionally by Martin to burst the whole fantasy-world bubble. It's a masterful job of character development and story-telling. That doesn't mean I have to like her. Anyway, it's all opinion so there's no right answer to this discussion. All I know is that I'm supposed to feel sorry for her, but instead I get angry with her. It's like she's the only one of the kids that learned absolutely nothing from her father OR her mother. Catelyn Stark wouldn't take any of this crap either.
  8. I guess it's comparative for me, as far as the whole Sansa thing is concerned. Let's review the Stark children: 1) Robb - father executed, wages war on the world 2) Arya - watched her father be executed, is composing a list and attempting to enact revenge on all involved 3) Bran/Rickon - despite being the youngest, are currently subsisting in the wild while undertaking a journey to the Wall. Watched their home burn, and they're persevering and picking up the pieces. 4) Jon Snow - murdered a fellow member of the Night's Watch as part of an undercover operation, is about to attack the Night's Watch, and in between got laid and climbed the Wall and then: 5) Sansa - crying, crying, crying. Named her fucking DIREWOLF "Lady," and is waiting for Prince Charming to swoop in on a steed of gold and rescue her from all this. Don't worry, the Fairy Godmother will wave her magic wand and make it all better. Just keep doing what your doing and maybe try sobbing a little more. THAT'S why I can't stand Sansa, on the show or in the books. The ONLY Stark child that hasn't had the dreamworld bubble burst, but rather continues to live in it and fall for every...fucking...deception.
  9. I haven't given anything away. I have neither confirmed nor denied whether she lives or dies. All I've ruled out is suicide lol. But I guess I should edit the posts for spoilers just in case lol.
  10. I've learned that I'm really going to have to bite my lip and do my absolute best to suffer through any Sansa scenes if I'm going to have any prayer of enjoying this show from here on out. I know it's irrational, but God....I HATE her. Like, I know I'm supposed to hate Joffrey and Cersei and view Sansa as a sympathetic character, but I just find myself gritting my teeth every time I see her, and I'd take either of those Lannisters over her. The voice, the naivety/ignorance, the facial expressions, etc. Sometimes I really wish she were just Stamkos in a wig.
  11. Are you insinuating that our very own board moderator prematurely dons prophylactics? Because I'm a firm believer in safe sex, and personally I think it's never too early to wrap it up. Unless of course you're still on the date or something. Then it's just creepy.
  12. So Nick Fotiu stopped by the race track where I worked today. Fortunately I recognized him and refused his money, telling him that Rangers don't pay at the track. Parked him up front, kept an eye for when he came out and brought his car up in like under 5 seconds lol. He took a picture with me, gave me an autographed photo addressed to me, and gave me one of the new playoff t-shirts they've been giving out at the Garden. Awesome, awesome guy, and I'll be keeping an eye out for him so I can take care of him again in the future.
  13. I actually agree. Great first season for a show to start on. I'm contemplating doing a play on the name Ragnar and changing my username to "Ranger Lothbrok." I'm having trouble making the commitment though. ;)

  15. Yup. And unless they do a fast-forward kind of thing for one of the seasons, we're not going to get to see his sons (like Bjorn) eventually avenge him. There can't be much more left to the Ragnar story. Probably another season, MAYBE two, and they'll run out of material. And there's no way the kid who plays Bjorn, or Ragnar's unborn son with Aslaugh, will be old enough to pick up the next arc according to legend. They'll have two options: fast-forward and continue with new actors as Ragnar's sons, or move to different famous Vikings.
  16. Yeah, I just wish there was more of a "this is the season-ender" feeling to it. I know the whole thing with Rollo, and Aslaug being pregnant, and the war, etc. But I had no idea it was the season ender. Nothing that said so before or after. I just went to look at the DVR today to watch last Sunday's episode and was like, "what the hell??
  17. Anyone know what the deal is? Was the 9th episode the last one until next season? It didn't really end with much of a cliff-hanger.
  18. Absolutely. All of them. Die-hard fan. Also, Jules, if you think the whole Theon thing is bad now...
  19. :repped:    Excellent work sir. I had no idea it was actually that close of a comparison.
  20. Melisandre is far less attractive than she's purported to be in the books, and her voice is decidedly less melodic too. Everything she says is supposed to have this sort of beautiful, seductive, dulcet quality to it. And Ygritte is supposed to have heinous teeth. Instead she has absolutely perfect teeth. But yeah, the actress who plays her is way hotter than the actress who plays Melisandre. On a side note, I know I'm supposed to feel bad for Sansa, but it's hard to because she's so fucking dumb. This whole idealogical fantasy world she lives in where some handsome, strong prince is supposed to sweep her off her feet, have a fairytale wedding and live happily ever after is utterly ridiculous, and she's so heartbroken every time it doesn't happen. You want reality? Look at what every single fucking one of your siblings is up to right now bitch. And I also think Ygritte is way hotter than the actress they picked for Sansa, who's supposed to be some kind of great beauty but in reality looks like Stamkos with a wig on.
  21. Hope nobody has seen this yet, it's utterly hilarious: http://www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/things-youll-only-find-funny-if-you-watch-the-walking-dead
