gallant may not be particularly good at thinking the game...but that doesn't mean this team can't gel on its own and develop the right style of play through experience...
its late in the day, of course, but they did find ways to advance last year...and they have considerably more talent this go

kane really looks like he's slowing down the pp...they should swap him out for tarasenko

What's producing the Bruins season is a good roster top to bottom with no holes...
Its likely the coaching/structure/style of play thats making their roster 'look' so complete

Lets see if he can even win a cup with a pretty good supporting cast before putting a minor league team around him with the pennies that are left.
-
Fuck yes!
Kreid-zib-kane is the line combo ive been waiting for...hope they ride that out until playoff time and give it a chance to click
-
If they play crappy hockey during the playoffs - getting outplayed/outskated/hemmed in thier own zone/lack of any good offensive pressure - i'd give him the boot unless they somehow still manage to luck into a SCF.

And the salt in the wound is the guy on the other bench last night, ruff, clearly does have a winning system in place (has in the past too, with buffalo)...and we could've given him the reigns post quinn.

Showtime with the hatrick

Wow...so for the next 4 years this team is stacked at Center. The future is bright.

Cost aside...you gotta be excited about what we could see from this pretty new panarin-zib pairing going forward - theyre showing signs of being prolific together.
And while kakko didnt work out that well next to kreider-zib, panarin-zib-kakko could be a better mix.
Laf, or kreider, if possible need to be an odd man out for othmann. Vesey, goodrow or someone else bumps up to the third line.

Well it took 70+ games into the season, but it looks like we finally have really good, stable line combinations. Kane and tro look like they have some chemistry, with still a bit more time to improve. Hopefully over this last stretch these line combos go from being really good to lethal.

A lot of the star players on this team had career years under Quinn.
You simply can't free-ball it all the time. Knowing where other players are going to be, or should be, helps a ton when you don't have a lot of time and space. There have been several noticeable plays where there were egregious giveaways because (for example) a defenseman got pressured and tried to push the puck to a winger who wasn't there, puck was turned over, and everyone blew coverage because no one knew where to be.
Here's one that sticks out in my mind:
Key lays the puck up the boards expecting a winger there, but Trocheck is coasting in. No one goes to Raymond, Kravtsov has no
idea where to be, neither does Trouba. It's a joke. That's more than a breakdown by one player. That's a collective "We have no clue where we should go, or where the puck should go".
I'm certainly underwhelmed by GG's results overall...just saying that there's a separate problem we've seen out of previous coaches where offensive pressue and production gets stifled because players seems to be holding onto thier sticks to tight due to anal retentive coaching.

That's certainly the most delicious whipped cream I've ever seen on a shit Sundae.
They went on a run because Trouba concussed 2 guys and Carolina's goalies got hurt. It had nothing to do with GG. At all. Crosby was single-handedly dismantling them.
I know this place has some wild takes, but when we're giving a Coach credit for not coaching, now I've seen everything.
well, maybe 'credit' is the wrong word...but i think its very possible that 'not coaching' (GG) can sometimes have better results than 'over coaching' (Quinn, Vignealt, torts).

Say no to Tro and Panarin. It hasn't worked all season. Like.... at all. Trocheck has done his best to be the player we thought the Rangers signed, when he plays with Kreider. Kreider also plays more like the Kreider we want to see, when he's with Trocheck. That combo needs to stay together.
didn't we actually see the panarin-tro-tarasenko line combo for a bit? i thought they had at least one game where they ripped off a bunch of points.
i mean look - if the kind of production were seeing these last two games continues...forget it...maybe we struck gold with the current line combos. but if we hit a dry spell, i think the simplest change that could have the biggest impact is flipping tro and zib.

I wouldn't change it now, either. But there's going to be a point where you're not facing AHL level competition and that ice cold kid line is gonna get exposed, as will the complete lack of chemistry between Kane and his linemates.
i'm a big proponent of:
kreider-Mika-Kane
panarin-tro-tarasenko

How the hell do u even play with a 6-0 lead going into the 2nd? Definitely too soon to take your foot off the break...gotta put ur foot on thier throat and end it brutally

Were firing on all cylanders, but make no mistake, it was chytils one man effort that made it all possible
-
this team collectively has been sh*t the last few weeks - and i would not attirbute that to just individual parts not playing well.
Hard to come up with a good evaluation of players in that environment. I would still bet on chytil if the numbers and all other moving pieces this offseason fit.

I agree, just not totally sold on him being fired unless they bomb in the first round. He absolutely should be though.
Well i dont have any behind the curtains insight, but for as much as drury has done in the rental category, ide think the bar for getting canned could actually be somewhat low.

I think players avoiding media is a sign that theyre not down with the coaching.
If they felt it was on them, hockey players usually say so...game in game out. But throwing coaches under the buss is taboo, so they gotta stay silent.

The only way Gallant gets fired is if they're done in the first round, even that isn't a guarantee but I really think it needs to happen.
Why's that? I thinks pretty clear to anyone hes underperformed this year based on the talent he has. If they dont go at least as far as last season, and play better hockey, he should be gone.
-
I really hope were not gonna ride or die with the panarin-kane connection...gallants tried every other single possible line combo pre kane, dont tell ne hes suddenly lost his balls to break that one up. Give it another few games if ude like, but if shit doesnt significantly improve, swap tarasenko and kane.
-
Last nights game definitely shouldn't be too much of an indicator whether our high skill orientation will fail...imagine when kane clicks in like tarasenko has...and watching his post game i have alot of confidence he will.
