Drew a Penalty
Link: https://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-return-to-play-eastern-conference/c-317029512 (6) Carolina Hurricanes vs. (11) New York Rangers Hurricanes: 38-25-5, 81 points (.596) Rangers: 37-28-5, 79 points (.564) Head-to-head New York 4-0-0 Nov. 7: Rangers 4, Hurricanes 2, at CAR Nov. 27: Rangers 3, Hurricanes 2, at NYR Dec. 27: Rangers 5, Hurricanes 3, at NYR Feb. 21: Rangers 5, Hurricanes 2, at CAR What's changed Hurricanes: Goalie James Reimer and defensemen Dougie Hamilton and Sami Vatanen should be available. Hamilton hasn't played since Jan. 16 because of a fractured left fibula. He was fourth among NHL defensemen with 40 points (14 goals, 26 assists) when he was injured. Vatanen, who had a lower-body injury when the Hurricanes acquired him from the New Jersey Devils on Feb. 24, hasn't played for Carolina. Reimer has been out since Feb. 22 with a lower-body injury. Rangers: Forward Chris Kreider (foot) will be available. Kreider, who missed the last six games before the season was paused, had 45 points (24 goals, 21 assists) in 63 games. Analysis This looks like a lopsided matchup with the Rangers 31-6-0 against the Hurricanes since Feb. 22, 2011. However, Carolina is stronger at defenseman than it was going into the pause with Hamilton and Vatanen expected back, and Brady Skjei in the mix after being acquired in a trade with the Rangers on Feb. 24. Each team will have a decision to make for starting goalie (Igor Shesterkin, Alexandar Georgiev or Henrik Lundqvist for New York; Petr Mrazek or Reimer for Carolina). Pete
My only hope is that this playoff appearance doesn't allow them to think that they're better than they are at the current state of the rebuild. Even if they win a cup in this format, they need to keep doing what they're doing and not let good get to them.
ThirtyONE
I think we have the best chance out of any of the "play in teams" to upset. Igor healthy. Kreider healthy. Can't wait for this to get started.

Gorton knows what's up. JD knows what's up. They deserve this opportunity and I fully expect them to have almost the same exact team again next season, potentially with more youth. Karan
Can't wait to see Panarin doing his thing again! I sure hope Zibanejad can keep up his goal scoring touch.
RangersIn7
Much as I think they probably should have just cancelled the season, I’m excited to see this format. If only because it’s something a little different, it should be interesting. And while it’s surely not a perfect format, given the circumstances, I’m glad that they gave the bubble teams an opportunity. Carolina is the best possible matchup they could’ve hoped for. All of that said, while I’m glad the kids are getting an opportunity to play playoff hockey and it will be good for them, I’d still prefer better lottery odds. There’s still possibilities there, so we will see.
RangersIn7
will Quinn succumb and have Henrik start the playoffs? Don't even start He didn't play him for more than half the season, why would he suddenly change tactics? Career numbers not withstanding, Igor has established himself as their best option. And it’s probably impossible for practices and scrimmages to change that. Hank should be the backup though. His numbers Vs Carolina and experience warrant that. They deserve this opportunity and I fully expect them to have almost the same exact team again next season, potentially with more youth. I hope so. This is literally a wide open, unprecedented format, so winning a Cup this year doesn't say anything about the long term healthy of the system. There?s still possibilities there, so we will see. Given that the Rangers can benefit in the lottery or even with just a top ten pick by either winning or losing their series I think they're in a great position with their picks. Obviously the greatest outcome is a series victory against Carolina with Toronto losing against the Blue Jackets.

Columbus will have a fully healthy Seth Jones, and those guys are going to compete hard. They could very well beat Toronto.
Dunny
The Soo Greyhounds could beat Toronto, nobody has done anything for 3 months. The first couple rounds, especially, are 50/50 affairs.
