Albatrosss
Hayes was a good player but glad we didn't give him that deal. We'd be paying for it in future. Me too.
LONG LONG LONG TIME FAN
The NYR need some of his attributes to rub off on his team mates. Much like his father, he's for real, in my book.

4EverRangerFrank
Lemieux is a real example of a guy playing to keep his job every night. At $950,000 he knows that the financial upside is so much bigger and if you have the heart and skill to make it happen, why not? He's a positive dynamo for us and I hope his grit rubs-off in the locker room.

CBrowningPI
Hayes was softer then baby taint. It warmed my heart when they got rid of him and his bro Vesey. Philly will trade him within 2 years. And they will probably wind up eating some of that salary.

Ozzy
I ain't going 7x7 for a guy like Hayes. He's good, but not THAT good. I'll take Lemeiux right now. He fills a piece of the puzzle we need. Hayes would take up way too much cap, and I think for 7 million, we may need that down the pike a bit to retain some players that are on their ELC's right now. McDougalfaschnitzer
Whatever kind of player Hayes ends up being, wouldn't have been the same Hayes if he had stayed in NY. I feel like he was locked into a downward path here so getting out was the best for everyone.

Ozzy
Hayes is currently 8-7-15 (-3) through 30 GP with Philly. He's on pace for 41 points. $7 million for that....
McDougalfaschnitzer
He was in the midst of a career year, 42 points in 51 games, at the time of the trade... I'm biased against him because his play away from the puck and defensively often had him making the wrong choices, and his effort levels seemed more in line with the typical player who comes to NY with promise only to underachieve and then fall into slumps and invisibility. I'd expect him to have a career year playing for a contract, but even then there was a lot about his game to be frustrated with.

But he was effective at what he did
Ozzy
Have to give him time to adjust I don't think he's a $7 million player, Alba...but that's my opinion, my man. I loved his size but I don't feel the effort from him. Takes games off, and for a center he should be doing more on the scoresheet. Adjustment period aside.
