Puck Head
Hayes right now is a 55 point two way center. IMO he's worth $7M per. you're worried about paying him $7M when he's 34-35 years old, but that's the nature of the beast. How many other 50pt (one time) and career .59ppg 7 million centers are out there Sent from my iPhone using Blueshirts Brotherhood mobile app powered by Tapatalk

Hayes may not be worth $7M three years ago, but with the current cap he certainly is

Puck Head
Anze Kopitar 60 pnts in 81 games played. $10M per year cap hit Kopitar is a .90 point per game player in his career. And had been a point per game player three previous 3 seasons. Plus had just won the Stanley Cup scoring 26 points in 26 games, and a Selke. Season before last Kopitar had 92 points. Puck Head
Derek Stepan Which has been a terrible contract. And Stepanakert contract ends at age 30? Not 34 That being said, Step still had much better pedigree going into the contract. Future
Between the two with special team play...gotta be close to that. Couturier averaged over 22 minutes last year so I'm sure several games he was over 24. Hayes, after that big contract, would be expected to take a jump up in ice time. How about 44 minutes a game then? Better? 13 times...28 times over 23:00 But Hayes isn't going to do that. His value to Philly is in bringing some of Couturier's workload down, particularly on the defensive end. AV is going to use him the same way he did in NY. Checking role, let Patrick play with some talent and get favorable matchups. But AV likes to roll 4 lines, if he has his way. They're unlikely to have 1 center playing 22:00, let alone 2 of them. It'll be like: Couturier - 20:00 Hayes - 18:00 Patrick - 16:
Pete
Speaking just in generality...48:00 among 2 centers, leaving 6 minutes a piece for the other 2 centers is just not going to happen.
