  1. Barely. And there's a ton of evidence and articles written about it. Most of the slap shots taken today are one timers.
  2. Leetch played 20 years ago where the majority of blocked shots were accidental. The gear is so significantly improved now, that no one is afraid to get in front of a shot. Shooting from the point to score is not a thing anymore. Just like the slapshot. Goalies are too good and players block too many shots.
  3. I will always trust the trained human eye over an algorithm that scrapes web data, which is what NST and EH do. That's why their numbers are so different, it's a slightly different algorithm working with the same data set. CSA's data set is generated by humans. Carolina has gotten a ton of beautiful chances in G2 and G3 that they just can't score on. The Rangers certainly have not had as many. But that's the whole point, right? They don't need as many.
  4. Just another lever Laviolette can pull to get the guys in the lineup to sustain their level of play. There's nothing more motivating than somebody coming for your job.
  5. I didn't notice the play you're describing, but he's playing left-wing for the first time... You would expect some misplays.
  6. At the end of the day this is sports. Anybody trying to reduce it to what a spreadsheet says is doing it wrong. Carolina has played well in the last two games. They have every reason to believe they deserve the split out of games two and three. They had carried the play for long stretches during both of those games. What it has come down to is that the Rangers have an ability to generate a high quality shot off of a high danger chance, and Carolina doesn't take any high quality shots. They lack the finishing ability. The HDCs they get either miss the net (aka hit posts) or Igor is making the save. They just don't have any natural finishers the way the Rangers do. I said this many times about this team, they take what you give them. Carolina isn't giving them much, but when they give, the Rangers take and it winds up a goal.
  7. At this point the 2nd unit should probably be Wennberg line + Lafreniere and Miller. Get a line out there that's a least familiar at even strength. Gus and Trouba should be out there as little as possible.
  8. 100%, this coach knows what he's doing. On the other hand we still have fans complaining Rempe didn't play, when Chytil almost won the game twice single-handedly, and after the initial shenanigans that settled itself very quickly, he would have been completely useless out there.
  9. At this point, seeing Chytil on the ice might have a similar crowd reaction to Rempe. Again, I will repeat, I love Rempe. But he's not an everyday player and probably never will be. And that's fine. But let's not bitch and moan every time he sits like the team is somehow worse for it.
  10. He should take a shorter term deal now and see what his point totals look like when he gets PP time.
  11. What you mean is, they're going to doctor it. They're definitely going to doctor it.
