Some of their core guys are getting a little older, and back surgery is not a particularly easy surgery to recover from, especially for a goalie. With him being out for 2 months (at least) and Boston being without Bergeron and Krejci, the Atlantic may be a little bit wide open this year, with young emerging teams like Buffalo and Ottawa possibly in a position to pounce. Tampa is always very fortunate for their highest paid players to go on LTIR right before every season. It’s almost like they do it on purpose and laugh in the league’s face while they do it!
