Pete Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 Prime day means spending money on shit you don't need. I "need" a new office chair. Anyone have a reco? No real specifics other than mesh not fabric (because kids), ergonomic, and seat tilt back. Anybody?
Ozzy Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 I found the mesh chairs to be more expensive than the leather chairs, Pete. I have a leather chair, but as far as mesh chairs, the ones we have around the office are these types. They're pretty comfortable, and take a beating pretty well from the amount of mutants around here that plop their asses in them. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/office-star-products-ergonomic-chair-with-double-air-grid-back-and-mesh-seat-black/9609852.p?skuId=9609852
Morphinity 2.0 Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 I've had people rave to me about the Herman Miller chairs. I personally can't justify spending over $1k on a chair, but I just have to throw it out there as an option. I have this chair: https://www.staples.com/Staples-Hyken-Technical-Mesh-Task-Chair-Black/product_990119 It's alright. Not super comfortable, I can't sit in it for more than 3 hours straight, and the head rest never really worked properly, but it serves the purpose.
Cash or Czech Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 I have the same chair as Morph. Lasted a good two to three years before my height adjuster went.
Phil Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 If you're looking to spend on Prime only, this won't matter, but the Ikea Hattefjaell is really great. Would fit well between Staples and Herman Miller qualities. Especially if you replace the stock wheels with rollerblade wheels, like these. 1

It's awful. Makes my back hurt. But it's a chair."
phillyb Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 (I didn't read the OP) I got two new office chairs about 2 years ago from Autonomous. They're expensive, but they live up to what they say they are. They're comfortable, I don't have pain, super customizable, etc. I sit for anywhere between 4-12 hours a day and need a chair to be comfortable. I bought two because I had a workstation and a stream-station in separate rooms of the house. They're worth checking out - https://www.autonomous.ai/office-chairs My only gripe is that some of the plastic pieces are...well...plastic. For the price tag, I wouldn't want plastic arm rests, but c'est la vie. 1

L'albatros Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 but seriously....La-Z-Boy office chairs are very comfortable. I've had a leather one for the last 7 years and its the best
Phil Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Still not over @Morphinity 2.0 reco. "Buy mine. It's shit. Fucked my whole back up. But it's a chair, or whatever."
Tonybologna Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 (edited) A price range might be needed here. A lot of high end office chairs can be had used though or from office liquidation sales for pretty cheap in good condition and would be better than anything you could find new for those prices. Any Herman Millers or Steelcase would be really good. My office has Knoll Generations and I love them. Very flexible chairs that don't feel difficult to find a comfortable position in and support you as you change positions. Sorry I just realized prime day is over and this post is almost a week old lol. Edited October 19, 2022 by Tonybologna
