Though this was an interesting enough idea to consider, especially with Seattle not quite releasing the Kraken on the rest of the league just yet. 

 

The only real knock on him imo is that he's smallish at 6'1 185, but I think this might make some sense for a mid-six option. He probably wouldn't be terribly expensive either.

This. He's clearly a part of their long-term future. We need to establish why they'd want him gone before entertaining the idea of him as a Ranger.

 

Also, he leads them in goals (19) and points (30). Why would he be inexpensive?

Wishful thinking? I like the idea of cheap, but we don't exactly have that reputation. If anything, we PAY dearly. *smh*

Not a bad target. Seattle might trade him because they suck and would either have futures or young prospects to build with. Not every 25-26 year old player is chosen to be built around when a rebuild is in order. See: Rangers and JT Miller.

 

With that said, I would think Gourde is on the table before McCann.

Good target actually. Don’t Imagine though that he’s “readily” available. And can’t see why they’d trade him.
