Blue Heaven Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 I need to get my daughter (4th grade) a chromebook b/c at some point I am fully expecting that her class will be quarantined.....any recommendations on a simple to use chromebook that will be used mostly for classwork? Also, not looking to spend north of $350-$400. Thanks
Cash or Czech Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 I had bought myself an ASUS chromebook for grad school back in 2015, and I use their other parts like graphics card and motherboard in my current PC build. I trust them a lot. There's a cheaper $199 option on Amazon, but this one on sale right now is spill resistant and "ruggedized", while also having a more powerful processor that will last longer and be more efficient. It's also touchscreen and can flip to be a tablet.
LindG1000 Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 I think Xander's rec is probably spot on for a 4th grader. That'll give them the basic Google Suite and should handle pretty much anything a school sends over. She shouldn't really need anything more powerful than that.
Parsley Posted August 25, 2021 Posted August 25, 2021 My kids school district uses LENOVO 100e Chromebook 2nd Gen AST Been no issues for the kids (grades 6 and 4)
NYR2711 Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 We had looked into getting my son a chromebook, and we found it better to spend the extra money and get him a laptop. Chromebooks don’t have much memory in them, they aren’t made to store anything, it’s more internet based. We went with the laptop for him so he can do his reports on it, and he has his music now on it, he is 11.
