Bugg
And people said the same thing about Renney/Jagr. That's how I know there's no meat on this bone. Zib and Panarin aren't going anywhere. So how does that shake out for Quinn? Rewatching the 1st period this AM; Igor bails them out repeatedly, while at the other end, they kept trying to make THE PERFECT PASS instead of going to the net. This is untenable.
Pete
http://www.nhl.com/stats/skaters?aggregate=0&report=powerplay&reportType=season&seasonFrom=20052006&seasonTo=20202021&gameType=2&playerPlayedFor=franchise.10&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=ppPoints&page=0&pageSize=50 Jagr had 52 points on the PP that season. (granted, more PP times because of all the calls) Panarin had 24 last season. (Prucha had 22 in 1 less game in 05-06) They have to split the units. Panarin has had some very costly late game mistakes. Maybe he's on the ice too much.I'm talking about one line doing whatever they wanted and being allowed to operate differently than the rest of the team. That happens frequently. BrooksBurner
Brooks continuing to lay it on thick with respect to PP deployments. Today, he took on how little Lafreniere is used there: https://nypost.com/2021/04/06/alexis-lafrenieres-power-play-time-is-a-rangers-problem Lafreniere’s power-play ice time of 1:35 per game — which ranks him ninth among rookies — is the least amount awarded to any first-overall selection in 22 seasons, since Joe Thornton got an average of 50 seconds per game playing for the Bruins in 1997-98 in a time when teenagers were scarce and their ice time was scarcer. Nail Yakupov got more power-play time as a rookie, so did Nico Hischier, so did Patrik Stefan, so did Aaron Ekblad, so did Rasmus Dahlin. So did everybody else who came after Thornton. Some of them were even on teams that were rebuilding. Everybody, that is, until Lafreniere. Maybe this isn’t a laughing matter.

Today, he took on how little Lafreniere is used there: https://nypost.com/2021/04/06/alexis-lafrenieres-power-play-time-is-a-rangers-problemWe've covered this. Forget the role of each player in terms of half wall, high slot, net front, etc... Lafreniere shouldn't be getting PP time over anyone currently getting PP time, based on performance. I'm all for mixing up units and splitting time more evenly, but Laf hasn't earned PP time. I also don't give 2 shits what kind of ice time other former 1OA got. Most weren't drafted to teams with a forward corp like this one. Again, much more like Seguin who had 22 points as a rookie on Boston's 3rd line and didn't get much PP time either.
