It's terrible for the east and west coast Canadian teams though.

 

Eh. I'd guess that they do "stay on your side" and "travel" chunks in the schedule. Having to do that five times in five months is rough though.

Ya, could be, but it's not as terrible if they play series instead of one-off games. Leafs should fly to Vancouver for five days and play 3 games. Something like that.

The Rangers division may not be as tough as it looks. Boston, Washington and Pittsburgh may all be poised for at least modest declines and maybe more (as we know, when it happens, it can happen pretty fast). The Islanders had a good playoff, but there's no assurance that that team will be the one that shows as opposed to the team that looked lousy during the latter part of the regular season. Philly is not daunting.

It's also a shortened season. All you really need is one big run and limit losing streaks and you're in.
