Phil
UFA? Or retiree? Why not just LTIRetire? Well, he'll become a UFA if and when they agree to the termination. My guess is that's what he wants.

And Byuff can just go sign anywhere before TDL?
Phil
And Jets get nothing? Cap space? And Byuff can just go sign anywhere before TDL? Yup. Cap space wasn't really an issue before. He was suspended. But it would have been if he came back.

Albatrosss
I'm hating this trend of teams/players conveniently doing this. Players have to agree not to get their guaranteed money. I don’t think it will become a trend. I’m not sure what Buff’s deal is and why he’s leaving so much money

Scott
He retired IIRC Technically sure but only from the NHL, him leaving for Europe saved the cap hit to the teams benefit. To me that's as shady if not even more than both sides agreeing to terminate a contract making the player a UFA.

In this instance, Buff becomes a UFA... Seems like everyone wins.

Seems like everyone wins. earlier G1000 mentioned we never seem to benefit from this kind of thing. We did here cap wise imo. the Buff deal is a strange one. That bridge has apparently been burned by both sides.

josh
Who cares, that’s temporary. They could have gotten assets to help for the next decade.
