BrooksBurner Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 And Bortuzzo should be out as long as Arvidsson. That shit is ridiculous.
Pete Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 Yeah, but also want to know what could have happened during that exchange that cost him six weeks?
BrooksBurner Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 Yeah, but also want to know what could have happened during that exchange that cost him six weeks? Replace the two o's with an e and an i and you have your answer.
Phil Posted November 25, 2019 Author Posted November 25, 2019 Bortuzzo should have gotten 20+ games. The second cross-check should have been a match penalty for intent to injure, too.
Gravesy Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 NEW YORK -- St. Louis Blues defenseman Robert Bortuzzo has been suspended for four games, without pay, for cross-checking Nashville Predators forward Viktor Arvidsson during NHL Game No. 358 in St. Louis on Saturday, Nov. 23, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today. The incident occurred at 6:03 of the first period. Bortuzzo was assessed a minor penalty for cross-checking. Bortuzzo is considered a repeat offender under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, will forfeit $67,073.16. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund. This is a complete joke imo.
Dunny Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 Bortuzzo clearly thought he dove in the 1st one, so he gave him a 2nd one.

Dunny Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 He's hurt, so that part checks out, but a lower body injury? Maybe on the second one? I think he knew what he was doing on the first cross check.
Phil Posted November 25, 2019 Author Posted November 25, 2019 Maybe on the second one? His spine compressed like aluminum foil. Bortuzzo should have been given 20+ games minimum. This was vile.

siddious Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 That second shot looks incredibly painful can?t believe people were saying it was not that bad lol (not here just in general) Sent from my iPhone using Blueshirts Brotherhood mobile app powered by Tapatalk

phillyb Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 Looks like Ardvisson?s head hits the crossbar on the first one, so maybe it did sting him a bit. Bortuzzo thought he dove and then gives him another one for real good measure. Who was it that repeatedly cross checked JT Miller into the ice a few seasons ago? How many games did that get (twas playoffs iirc)?

I mean, either is incredibly dangerous. Look at how Arvidsson's back folds. Consider the position he's in. Either guy could have been paralyzed over these types of reactions.

Pete Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 ESPN? Really? I can't believe I gave them a click. SEO. Was the first link that came up in google haha.

Phil Posted November 25, 2019 Author Posted November 25, 2019 I mean, I guess. That was also nearly five years ago. I could be wrong on this, but doesn't DOPS only consider the "precedent" thing from within a much more rigid timeframe? Like, a calendar year, give or take?

Also didn't realize it was that long ago.

Scott Posted November 26, 2019 Posted November 26, 2019 The replay of the Bortuzzo incident that the showed during the post game tonight showed Bennington giving the guy a third cross check after he got up and started to skate towards the corner. Wth.
phillyb Posted November 26, 2019 Posted November 26, 2019 Binnington's like, "get the fuck out of my net." I don't think he had any idea what Bortuzzo did, but idk.
