Sod16
Carolina needs to get out the old photo of Nelson Rockefeller giving the finger that Colorado faxed to Neil Smith after they matched the Joe Sakic offer.

josh
If they match they have 5 days to trade him, or they'll have to pay up. That's... Not ideal. Really? Never heard this
Dunny
That's the date of his signing bonus, I think. Habs put them in a bad spot, very shrewd, but too cute. It would have been a slam dunk @ 9,500,000.
Zuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuc
Would rangers match a 7x8.45m contract for trouba? Heard there was talk about 7-8m so 8.45 would be a lot. Niko
I don’t understand how the exchange of draft picks work in each scenario. Car has a player. The habs make that RFA an offer and he agrees. Car has 7 days to either agree or let him walk. I get that. And I understand that the rounds of each draft pick is dependent upon the terms of the contract. What I don’t get is what picks are involved and who gets what in either case here? Who gets what if Carolina didn’t match? Who gets what if they do? Sent from my iPhone using Blueshirts Brotherhood mobile app powered by Tapatalk Probably, but I wouldn't want them to. I'd just take the 1st/2nd/3rd compensation. It's roughly what we gave for him in the first place.

Slobberknocker
They will take the full amount of time and then match. They'd get much more than a 123 if they traded him outright Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

Future
Next move. Rangers trade for Aho's rights and match the offer... That's what I'd do. It will cost you probably Chytil, Kreider and a pick, but I'd pull the trigger on that. Doubt Carolina would have any appetite for it though. Doubt Carolina would have any appetite for it though. I actually don't think that's an option. Couldn't find a definitive answer, but I don't think Carolina can trade his rights in the 7 day window. I think their only option is sign him or take MTL's picks.

phillyb
Habs can't find anybody to play for them. Habs didn't really put themselves in a great position to get Aho. Of course CAR was going to match.
Gravesy
Laughable move by Bergevin. If they were serious about this they should have put in an offer that would actually push the Canes into uncomfortable waters. Every man and his dog knew the Canes would match this all day long. I'm a bit disappointed Waddell didn't sit on this for the full 7 days just to stir the pot.

NYR2711
They should have waited to mess with Montreal so they would lose out on what’s left in FA.
