Phil
Correct. His deal also includes a 15-team no-trade clause, because of course, it does. Chiarelli's last hurrah, it seems, was to roll one last Koskinen-shaped grenade into the Oilers' command ops before bleeding out.
Morphinity 2.0
I think the moment that got Chiarelli fired last night was when Brandon Manning got skated past like he was standing still and Koskinen let in an awful short-side goal.
Zuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuc
All this says is that the entire Oilers org is a huge cluster fuck. How do you let a GM you're going to fire in a day or two negotiate and give out a huge contract like that?

Dunny
I actually think it's a pretty good deal, or at least the least of their worries going forward. I think he's a fine goaltender.
ThirtyONE
How can you say that? He’s a 30yo with 27 games of experience. He has virtually no sample size.
Dunny
He was arguably the best goalie in the KHL for 6 or 7 years. He's a good goalie, and that's not an exorbitant price for a good goalie.

If by the end of say, next season he keeps playing really well, the contract will be a bargain compared to most starting goalie standards. It's a high risk/reward type of move.
