Sod16
Quinn has used just about every mathematical combination of 13 forwards for his lines except one, 20-93-17, which was the only line that really gelled last year, albeit for a relatively short time before 17 got hurt. Larry Brooks' article from before the SJ game said they were back together in practice, but it looked instead like 89-93-17 in the game. Could we please go back to a line that really worked well for 12 to 15 games? That hot steak stopped when one of the guys was hurt, not when the line cooled off. 17 really has a better offensive touch than some think. He reminds me a little of a (less pugnacious) Esa Tikkenen in that he can play quite well on a 4th line or a 1st line. Esa did splendidly for us on both. Pete
Brooks article noted Quinn's reasoning. He wants to see a playmaker with Zib, that playmaker being Buch. I feel like all the feedback around Quinn is why he isn't making moves that help the team win...Winning isn't the #1 goal right now. Learning is. He's learning the team, the team is learning him/his system, and everything is being evaluated. That's the goal here.
Giacomin
Good timing Sod. Looks like we'll get that line combo today against Edm. Buch stays on LW, buts swaps spots with Kreids. Buch couldn't help but gravitate to the right side, during his first game as a LW. Now he'll be on a line with no righties. Maybe he and Zuc can run some stunts. :)
Sod16
20-93-17 looked great in the first period and produced our only goal. I didn't see the rest of the game.
Pete
Goal was puck luck. They were terrible rest of game. Kreider especially.
josh
I thought Zibanejad had his most noticeable game of the season. Kreider has 2 or 3 good shifts. I barely noticed Fast. Same old story, first line guys never clicking at the same time.
NYRangers723
They played well matched up with the mcdavid line. The coaches were happy with them.
