Phil
Henrik Zetterberg's status for next season remains up in the air. The Detroit Red Wings captain has long struggled with back injuries, dating back to the 2014 season when he missed the final 24 games of the regular season, plus three playoff contests, following back surgery. However, Zetterberg has not missed any time in the past three seasons. While the hope is that he can dress for the upcoming campaign, his status remains uncertain. "There's a real unknown right now with Henrik Zetterberg," Red Wings general manager Ken Holland told The Athletic's Craig Custance. https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/1582632Red Wings' Holland: 'There's a real unknown right now with Zetterberg' Sent from my iPhone using Blueshirts Brotherhood mobile app powered by Tapatalk

Phil
There's no way he will. His contract is one of those recapture ones. He'll ride out a long-term injury, just like Hossa. josh
Coyotes going to have some depth. Bottom 6 looking like: Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Hossa Horton - Bolland - Clarkson plus Pronger.

Giacomin
And like that, the Wings are out of cap hell.
Stephen
It's about time! Holland has locked the team into some terrible deals. It will not stop the inevitable decline of the Red Wings despite having a great draft
josh
The salary cap difference between the Wings and the Rangers is Nash’s contact expired Both teams are a bunch of mediocre teams paid like difference makers.

Kevin
He's still owed $18 mill over the next three seasons. How does that work with his cap hit? On the personal side of this, sad to see him go due to injury. Great player for a long time.
Phil
Just fine. He'll go on LTIR and ride this out still on the roster, just like Hossa is doing. Remember, a critical factor here is cap recapture, which he would hit the Wings with were he to formally retire before his deal expires.
