NYR2711
R.I.P. Ray Manzarek from the doors. Lost his battle against bile duct cancer. He was one of the greatest minds behind one of the most influential bands of all time, The Doors. I was a huge Doors can growing up because my parents always listened to them. A huge loss in the music industry.
Jules
The coolest keyboard player in music history. RIP, Ray.

Art Panarini
Noooooooooo!! The doors are and have been my favorite band since I was around 5 years old. This is a very sad thread to wake up from a nap to read. :(

I am Scags
This is a young board so this is well before most of our times, certainly well before mine. I was born several years after Jim Morrison had already passed, but I've always been a classic rock fan and always loved the Doors growing up. Ray was the founder of the group. http://www.tmz.com/2013/05/20/ray-manzarek-dead-the-doors-cancer/ http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/dam/assets/130520174627-02-ray-manzarek-horizontal-gallery.jpg

This is a great book, I have read it a couple of times myself. I am a Doors nerd as well. I always wanted to go to Paris just for Jims grave, but now we will have to see where they move it to. Art Panarini
Is his grave actually being moved? That's always been a rumor that comes up based on some lease or something, but never actually comes to fruition.
CCCP
sad. i loved manzarek and his keyboard work. i think all four Doors were musical geniuses and brought something unusual and vastly different to a rock band, respectively. I hope they dont move morrison from Pere Lachaise. He's buried among the few of the greatest people to ever live and he's one of them. i've been there, its awesome (if u can describe a cemetery in that way). there are arrows pointing to jim's grave everywhere

Densmore brought a jazz influence, Kreiger a Spanish and southern blues, and Manzarek a classic and Chicago blues.

Last I had heard was that they weren't keeping him there and would move him to because all of the other graves were getting ruined
