Against Coyotes
Trocheck +6, 2 assists
Laf +4, 3 goals, 2 assists
Panarin +5, 1 goal, 3 assists
I considered moving Lindgren above Quick, but given Quick's accomplishment did not.
Instead Lindgren with a solid effort at both ends, including a goal and 2 assists, +4. Trouba -2 and Coyotes did manage to score 5.
Jones continuing to show progress at both ends of the ice, and this wasn't one of Vesey's best efforts.

2 points. Exhausted
-
Laf deserves an empty net goal to get the hat trick.

I guess we don’t have to play a solid 60 minutes. The question is how few solid minutes we can get away with and get results
-
Too bad Panarin can only be double-shifted. What a year
-
Rangers need a power plat to regain some interest in this one. Not backchecking hard turned into a four on two. Igor getting a workout
-
The Flyers need 2 points. The Rangers want 2 points. Not the Rangers best second period of the year so far.

In Panarin, Trocheck, and Lafreniere we trust... and hope the power play or another forward line will show up on any given night.

Apparently Florida trying to bore Igor. It’s a bold strategy

Better second, now just have to win the third.

With the remaining games in the regular season, the Rangers can work to be playing the right way entering the post-season - let's say the last 5 games of the regular season are the most important. They can also maximize their home ice by finishing in the standings as high as possible.
Our last meaningful data point is the Devils series in the playoffs. Laviolette's main job is to help the Rangers more consistently achieve deep playoff runs, a failure of his predecessors. I'm pointing the finger at Kreider and Zib. A likely first round playoff opponent is the Lighting. With what I've seen with Kreider and Zib in the Devils series and so far this year, I don't see us beating the Lightning with K & Z playing level from last year's post-season. If we can't get Kreider and Zib to raise their game significantly in the playoffs, it's going to be a short post-season. They failed in the Devils series, and we won't have another data point until this year's postseason. If the coaches don't demand more from them, by default their performance is deemed acceptable. And as leaders if their performance is acceptable, every other player can measure their own compete level against what is acceptable from the leaders.

Who said they kept him out of the lineup to make a point? Nobody. Just fans. Maybe they kept him out of the lineup because they won three of four games without him?
Sorry but Rempe playing 6 minutes a night before getting kicked out is not the key to success for this team. They are more than capable of winning without him.
As far as what's going on in Philly, I'll take the team that's been in first in the Metro and top five in the league all season and not be impressed by a team that's struggling to make a wild card because they scratch their captain.
Your quote pulls missed the part where Couturier was asked if it was communicated to him what he needs to do to get back into the lineup, and he said no. The staff didn't say anything to him other than "be better". That's not top notch coaching. And I'm a Torts fan.
No, I don't envy the Flyers because they're so cool they scratch their captain.
I'm sorry you missed the main points of my post. Over the years the Rangers have treated the young players different than the veterans. Players like Laf, Kakko, Rempe have had TOI cut and/or healthy scratches because of play not meeting standards. Vets like Kreider, Zib, Panarin, Trocheck, have largely escaped having TOI cut, or getting dropped from PP1 to PP2 or off the other power play, or other playing time consequences that would get their attention. It's most important for your core veterans (especially those with 'A' on their chest) to set the standard of play and an example for the young players.
Torts has done an amazing job to have the Flyers in third place.
I've isolated the main points of the Torts quote for emphasis on my point(s) below.
"For me, I don't care the name, the stature, veteran, especially this time of year," Tortorella said. "I need him to be better, that's all."
The contrast I am drawing between Philadelphia and the Rangers is
1. Tortorella is holding all players to his standard - he's not letting stars, veterans, or players with the most TOI get a free pass if their play doesn't meet standards.
2. Tortorella expects better from a player, so that player is a clean scratch. He knows that Couturier is going to be key for the playoff push - so the time for corrective action is during the regular season.

It's too bad we don't have a player that can step in and cause opposing teams to lose focus, get distracted, go off the rails a little bit. Ah well. Thought Brodzinski was really gonna make a difference tonight.
We're going to keep a young player out of the lineup to make a point. But we're not going to healthy scratch any of the vets who went at half speed for multiple shifts.
Meanwhile, in Philadelphia...Sean Couturier was a healthy scratch for the Philadelphia Flyers against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday.
https://www.nhl.com/news/philadelphia-couturier-frustrated-about-being-scratch-against-toronto
"I guess we're going with the best lineup available tonight to get a win," Couturier said before Philadelphia won 4-3. "So, it is what it is. ... I've got to leave my ego aside, I guess, and hopefully team finds a way to get a win here tonight and I can get back into [the lineup] soon."'
Philadelphia coach John Tortorella said Monday that Couturier was one of several players he was looking to see more from.
"For me, I don't care the name, the stature, veteran, especially this time of year," Tortorella said. "I don't care who you are, I'm going to put the guys that give us the best chance to win that particular game..."I'll never worry about him as far as effort, as far as attitude," Tortorella said. "He is a pro. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him. I'm not worried about that. I need him to be better, that's all."

Coach:we tried shuffling lines. What’s plan C?

That’s brutal CK right before intermission to go down 3-1. Hellebuyck is comfortable see puck save puck. Need more screens, deflections, and chaos in front of the net.
-
I never know what I’m going to learn in GDT. Now I have to google Malone since I’ve never heard of it. Maybe it’s where they get spare parts for Lindgren.
EDIT: not too far from Canada in middle of nowhere. Good place for the outdoors, probably
-
Per nhl.com Jets lead the league in goals against per game played, so going to have to work against Hellebuyck. PP would be great to tie it up.

It’s speculation based on video. The hope is it looked worst than it was. I have my own opinion on what it looked like but won’t speculate here.

Laf has gotta be stronger with the puck or chip it off the boards. Terrible place to lose the puck

God damn that isles lineup is so bad and… wtf they’re in a playoff spot?
NYI have really benefited from the loser point - move those losses over to the L column and their real record is worse. There’s still a good chance they will miss the playoffs, so there’s that.

Trouba with the turnover leading to the goal and just turned it over again to the Crosby line in the defensive zone. Will be better when he shakes off the rust and gets back into game awareness
