  1. Vegas has a cluster of teams as favorites for the cup - Panthers, Avalanche, Oilers, Bruins, Stars, Hurricanes, Rangers, Jets, Canucks, Knights, Leafs https://www.vegasinsider.com/nhl/odds/futures/ Trade deadline will help determine if any of the above make a move to help separate themselves as clearer favorites. Given the NMCs, salary cap situation, and injuries, it would take some wizardry from Drury to dramatically improve the team. More likely is if Drury chooses to tinker - so weighing a possible incremental improvement in playoff chances but working to integrate a new player or two onto the right line, learning the system, fitting into the locker room; versus the status quo. Unless Drury is able to dramatically improve the team (which I doubt he could do without sacrificing young players who we don't yet know the ceiling, which I am against, or draft picks, which I am less against) I'm in favor of sitting this trade deadline out. Getting a player like Wennberg probably won't require you to give up much but won't help the team very much either.
  2. Wennberg is too young to be a Rangers trade deadline acquisition, he’s only 29 years old. I think the nicest thing I can say is that they could do worse. He’s a professional hockey player that can center the third line. Good enough if you think we are a piece or two away from a deep playoff run.
  3. 1. Artemi Panarin 2. Chris Kreider 3. Vincent Trocheck 4. Adam Fox 5. Mika Zibanejad 6. Alexis Lafrenière 7. Igor Shesterkin 8. Jonathan Quick 9. Jacob Trouba 10. Ryan Lindgren 11. Jimmy Vesey 12. Kaapo Kakko +1 13. Will Cuylle 14. K'Andre Miller 15. Braden Schneider 16. Erik Gustafsson 17. Jonny Brodzinski 18. Barclay Goodrow 19. Adam Edstrom 20. Matt Rempe +1 21. Zac Jones 22. Alex Belzile
  4. I’d go Cuylle with Rempe and Edstrom and let them forecheck and hit.
  5. More fourth line please. Unless Laviolette is OK with passive no effort pussy hockey.
  6. Hilarious the announcers keep referring to temps in the thirties as ‘cold’. Some kind of pampered existence, that.
  7. It’s been better since the Rangers power play goal. Look engaged finally.
  8. Keep Quick on the bench and fresh for his next start. Not seeing much from the skaters to think they are going to fight back no matter who is in net.
  9. Let’s find a big center for Edstrom and Rempe and go full Hanson brothers.
  10. Still plenty of time to turn it around, bit poor first 10 from the Rangers skaters.
  11. Outdoor ice will be good but less predictable than the arena ice both teams are used to, putting a premium on simple hockey plays. It will be harder to complete tic-tac-toe passing. Neither team will score as often on fancy plays. The Islanders are probably better suited to an outdoor game, but the Rangers are on a streak so get the W. LGR!
  12. I’m not disagreeing (or agreeing) with you, but this team is in a weird place that this is legitimate analysis. First place in Metro, on a streak, and still roster concerns.
  13. Trivia helps me understand I am an idiot because 30 seconds isn’t long enough for me to get the question properly. I am proud to recognize when I am an idiot some of the time.
  14. Too much to ask for an uneventful third of solid hockey? Would be nice to not sweat the final minute.
  15. I was guessing Kovalev but not enough games with MTL. 1000 games for each is a lot.
  16. A quote from Yzerman when being asking about the trade deadline and if it’s playoff or bust for the Wings: "Our goal isn’t just to make the playoffs," Yzerman said. "Our goal is to build a team that can compete for a championship. So the moves we’re making along the way aren’t necessarily designed toward, 'Oh my god, we gotta make the playoffs this year, or playoffs-or-bust.' No, we’re trying to build a nucleus of a young team that’s going to be together for a long time that can compete in the playoffs for the Stanley Cup, and we’re sticking with that path."

Adam Edstrom Sometimes you shouldn't overthink things. Shesty with the shutout.
