Damn, that came out of nowhere. lol $15 million is nothing to The Rock. The XFL actually wasn't that bad, really. It's just a tough break with COVID absolutely killing its momentum (and a lot of other things too). Hopefully it sees the light of day again soon.

Basically what you said. With JD and Gorton at the helm, this is probably the best their front office has been in ages. I really liked watching Kakko in the postseason games. I don't know if he'll be elite talent, but something is there, and you saw it here more than ever. I think those few months off did wonders for his body after playing a lot of hockey the past year-plus. Shesterkin emerging was very Lundqvist 2005 and the Rangers are very fortunate to be able to transition right away into someone who likes he can carry this team hopefully just as long as Henrik did. Having a great chance at the first overall pick is a huge plus, and I think getting another first rounder for Skjei, someone who's days were numbered anyway, was a boon as well. I know it won't really be a high pick, but still.

 

Having two offensive players like Zibanejad and Panarin together is something this franchise has sorely lacked since Jagr. Watching Zibanejad continue to grow and mature was really fun to watch this year. Oh, and so was Panarin. My favorite moments were the comeback in Montreal (a confidence changer) the Islanders game where Zibanejad had that laser shot overtime goal, and his five-goal performance against Washington.

The rebuild is just beginning, let alone not being over. I still like the direction they're headed, but this was just a huge mismatch. I'm hoping this series helps Rangers' management perhaps think twice about giving paydays and long-term contracts to some of these guys. Unless Hank actually announces his retirement, or wants to get moved elsewhere, I still think he's the backup next year and they trade Georgiev. I guess the best part of this is that they have a %12.5 chance of getting the number one overall pick. Going on, you thought that it would be nice to also get some playoff experience for some of these players, but it looks to me like they got nothing out of it, really.

He and Panarin are a one-two punch the Rangers have needed for a loooong time.

He just keeps getting better and better and it's fun to watch. I know playing with Panarin certainly helps, but it was just insane production and he missed 13 games! Watching Panarin just being able to find him and connect all the time was magical.

The Marlins season is officially on hold as a few more have tested positive. In the meantime, they will be looking for players who test negative to be able to play for them. The Yankees game against the Phillies tonight has been postponed.

If enough players are out with COVID, do they have to forfeit games or are their operations just suspended and the games are cancelled?

Holy crap what an ending! That was some of the best casting, acting, directing and writing I've seen in a show in a very long term. I was waist deep in that show from beginning to end. I think I should have watched it in German with the English subtitles instead of the English dub, but whatever, it was still amazing.

Overall a good show. I think it may have unfairly been compared to The Office just because of Carrell, but it's its own thing. It's not nearly as funny, but it's still good. It's mostly a lot of tongue-in-cheek humor.

The last episode was ass, but it was a good watch overall. I love that someone mentioned 'What We Do In The Shadows'. It is the vampire sitcom I didn't realize I needed in my life. The movie was hysterical and I[m so glad it got a TV adaptation. They nailed it.

I grew up on watching Regis' talk show and Who Wants to be a Millionaire? He would always make you feel good, and I always liked when he would have wrestlers on his show and he wouldn't be embarrassed in any way to show his love for professional wrestling. He's a television treasure who will sorely be missed. :(

Not that your point isn't well taken in that Jagr was a beast, but Nylander and Straka both had over 70 points that year too.

 

Oh, for sure, that line was insane. Nylander and Straka were both great anyway, Jagr made them better. But, it's even more exciting having a guy like Zib next to him. Two much younger guys who can lead this team to longer term success. But, Jagr, that line and the '06 team will always have a special place.

Yeah, I'll happily eat crow on this one. I'm sure I could find it in the thread where the Panarin to NY rumors first started, but I was opposed to signing him. I thought the move reeked of desperation and a desire to jump the gun back into contention when we weren't quite ready. Additionally, he didn't meet my somewhat arbitrary standard of being a "too big to fail" type player. The theory is that unless they're so damn good it's impossible to suck, like legendary elite-style players, coming to NY is a death sentence. I also thought his Calder Trophy season was inflated by playing with Kane.

 

Messier, Jagr, Bure, Lindros (albeit to a lesser extent), etc. fell in the "too big to fail" category. Guys like Nash, Drury, Gomez, Richards, etc. fell into the latter category of great players headed for disappointment. I was way, way, WAYYYY off. This guy is sensational. Forget the goals for a second. I think you see everything you need to on his pass to Zibanejad in OT against the Caps for Zib's 5th goal of the game. It almost looks lazy, but he's just that good. You see the briefest of glances over his shoulder, then he calmly drifts to the puck and, without looking, slings it effortlessly on to Zib's stick across the entire neutral zone for a clear breakaway.

 

The guy is just so damn good. He makes it look easy, and he doesn't seem to make mistakes. Very, very happy to have him and can earnestly say he's worth every penny of that contract.

 

We talked before about Panarin's Hart-worthy season and his competition, comparing it to Jagr in '06. Panarin was basically the Jagr of that year to the Rangers this past season as far as carrying the team (mostly) offensively. The big difference is that Jagr didn't have a guy like Zibanejad next to him. This season reminds me a little of that year with the team being carried by a big offensive player, and also a young goalie coming in and playing great. I know Shesterkin came in much later in the year, whereas Lundqvist started the season, but you know what I mean.

That's neat. Hopefully you guys win the designs for the eventual Portland and Quebec City teams. lol

I knew you did graphic design, but I didn't realize your company actually did concept logos for the expansion teams. That's sweet.

Both new expansion teams, Seattle and Las Vegas have had just awesome logo and jersey designs. Actually, they've done pretty well in general with expansion team uniforms and logos over the years. I liked Minnesota's and Columbus' a lot as well, the last time the league got two new teams in the same year.

Amazing jerseys and logo! I love that they took inspiration from the old Seattle Metropolitans and incorporated it into the new logo.

Second season of the Wire made me want to stop watching. I'm glad I didn't, because it's one of the best series of all-time, but holy shit was season two hard to stomach.

 

I just got started watching it. I'm kind of focusing on finishing The Sopranos first since I'm over five seasons in. Sometimes I'm kind of 'meh' when it comes to police/crime dramas, but I've heard too many good things about it to not give it a shot.

Hopefully it does have some sea-related name, since it most definitely won't be Metropolitans. Or, the Seattle Depression.
