  1. Not sure I agree that the Hayes trade was a loss. They just turned around and dealt it back in the Trouba deal, which, meh, wasn't that bad either. It was really the signing terms that were the loss rather than the trade itself. If there's an area to point out that Gorton might not be so good at, it's probably contract negotiations. It's hard to win trades when you are tearing stuff down. Others know the assets are pretty much at a discount.

    I think Gorton has done "more good" on the trades he's won than bad on the trades he's lost:

    * Brassard for Zibanejad.

    * Nash for Lindgren, Spooner, 1st round pick (became K'Andre Miller).

    * Spooner for Strome

    * Skjei for 1st

    The first 3 trades alone got our top 2 centers in our top 6 and 2 players in our top 4 D, and only for Brassard and a 2 month Nash rental. Hell of a return.

    100%. I still can't believe he turned Spooner into Strome or even Brassard for Zibanejad. Those are just huge deals for the franchise as a whole. The Nash trade was the gift that kept on giving.

  2. He called Morin, "MORON" ..he also said the Flyers aren't tough, they're "Dirty and dangerous"...

    ...so ironic it was Morin who scored his first NHL goal to beat us in the last few minutes...kinda stuck it right up our ass. So fitting! LOL

    It really is, since he shouldn't even have been playing. They got some measure of revenge from those blowout loses. Sort of. I thought Philadelphia deserved to win the game, but that was still a punch in the gut.

  3. Even if he goes to the Kings and does really well, I won't even be mad as I don't think he was every going to do that great here. I think he was better last year but really regressed like some other players have. He really wasn't great at fights and he took a lot of stupid penalties. This team takes too many penalties as it is. That may be more of a knock on Quinn than it is Lemieux persay, but I wish him luck. I wonder if LA would take Howden. They could make a Lemieux-Howden-Anderson line. lol
  4. Matt Gilroy and Michael Del Zotto both in preseason back during their rookie year. They completely sucked afterward but I remember being in awe of the coast-to-coast rushes that I believe they scored in the same game.

    I think I was more hyped for Del Zotto than Gilroy even though he looked good too. At the very least I though they'd be quite good. It's too bad. But, I think the Rangers are finally set on defense with everyone they have, and Lundqvist coming, so I'm excited about it.

  5. They need to completely reconfigure that organization from top to bottom.

    Its a losing atmosphere that wont change without a clean slate.

    At this point you gotta just feel bad for their fans, its just a shit show.

    They really do, starting from the ownership right on down. It's something that needs to happen, but they've already missed the playoffs for ten years straight as it is, now they have to truly rebuild. That's rough. When fans are allowed back in, the crowd sizes probably won't be much different than what they'd be normally. lol They actually made some really good moves this past offseason and they got Skinner a couple of years ago who had a great year, it's just everything has fallen apart. Like you said, bad atmosphere and karma and all of that.

  6. Actually, the last time you saw that was with Neal Pionk a few years ago.

    Truth be told, Leetch declined from an ultra elite player after 1997. He pepped up and had a great run for half a season or so back about 2001 when his contract was due. Leetch in his prime, about 1990 to 1997, was incomparable.

    I agree that it may be just as well that Fox get the official accolades before he comes off the entry level contract. He's going to rate a monster as it is. I first thought we had another Don Sweeney, who was smallish and not that physical but immaculately smart and effective, but now I think we have something even more.

    Hold that "C"? I'm not sure if he's the right personality yet.

    Yeah, true about Pionk. I was bummed when they traded him and I'm even more bummed seeing how well he was doing. Even though he did do stuff like that, Fox is just another level. Leetch did drop off during that crap run of hockey which made it even more depressing. Plus, you've seen someone like Brad Park play who was obviously great, just kind of overshadowed a bit because he played during the same time period that Bobby Orr did. Hopefully Fox can become that elite Park/Leetch dynamic offensively with the fantastic defensive play. So far it's looking pretty good.

  7. If Eichel does happen they may get away with not giving up Kakko (they won't trade Lafreniere), but I don't know. You can at least say goodbye two two of the players you mentioned. Buffalo isn't going to give him away. If they do trade him, it's very important for their future. If they get a crap return, then the fans will probably turn on the franchise forever. It's a big deal for them. He'll get dealt either way to someone, as will all their impending UFA. It's going to be a huge blow up and reboot for them.
