I'm still trying to figure out how Rempe, sort to peeling off and not hitting Bastian, can use his body in that position. He' s a giant and unless the other player is perfectly vertical, its going to be hard to not make head contact. I'm not trying to litigate the call, but more understand how he needs to play?

I just read on The Athletic that St Louis might move Buchnevich.. I'd trade picks, prospects and the soul of Adam Henrique to get PB back.. Figure the cap hit for next year out over the summer.

I think they would have pulled the trigger on Markstrom already so the price must be painfully high for them not to have done so.

I don't get the point of hanging on to him (my desire for the Rangers to acquire aside). He's 30, they are absolute dogshit on the ice and they don't exactly have a roster that screams "lets hang on to a team leader whose played his best hockey already". 

Wonder if Jarmo getting canned makes Jenner more or less of a pipedream 

Heard Dave Pagnotta talk about this earlier today. 

Solid player, but he's inconsistent as hell.. NGL, the thought of a Laughton centered line with Vesey and Goodrow isn't terrible.. 

I think we either need to get a real 2c with a depth wing or focus on a proven commodity W and find a 3/4 center,  I think the market at W might be a bit easier to navigate.

The stage has never seemed too big nor the lights too bright for this kid. 

Not every rookie needs to be a grand slam, stand-up doubles win you ball games.

Henrique isn't dethroning Mika. Nor is he dethroning Vinny. So he's coming in as the 3c, max. In Laviolette's current third line construction, that 3c has to be a north-south guy who loves to play on the boards and crash the net. Bonus points - this shit works in the playoffs.

I’m in the huge minority it seems (based on twitter). But I really don't give a shit how someone scores an empty netter- butter soft wrister, back hand, a clapper, pull out your hog and use it to score- don't care. I’m more pissed about the first 4 goals scored. Blowing up someone who didn’t follow the (stupid) unwritten rules of the game is fake tough guy stuff.

The Rangers go to Ottawa and offer them Adam Fox, Alexis Lafreniere and K'Andre Miller.  We want Brady Tkachuk, Vladimir Tarasenko and Jakob Chychrun.

 

Why would the Senators do this trade?  3 good young bodies including an All-Star caliber d-man who is early-prime.  They're still not winning anything in Ottawa and they're getting a chance to recast the bones just like we are but with a plausible addition of 3 young stars for their best player.  They're also getting a drawing card in Lafreniere.

 

Why would we do this trade?  Because Tkachuk is exactly what we need right now.  A physical young leader upfront who brings some grit and a strong north south style to the offense.  Tarasenko fills a need at RW, likely alongside Panarin, and Chychrun is a 25 year old d-man who can play both sides and will be in our top 4 somewhere for years to come.  There's a chance we will do further shuffling this summer and Tarasenko might well wind up getting somebody else's cap slot in the process.

 

Ok so having accomplished this deal the Rangers go to Columbus and offer them the 1st next season or Kakko plus a prospect thrown-in on either for Boone Jenner 50% retained.

 

Why do this?  Because physical captain again and a perfect 3rd line center between Kreider and Cuylle.

 

The Rangers lineup looks something like this if they can do both deals:

 

Tkachuk - Zibanejad - Wheeler.  North south wings to reinforce Zibanejad.

Panarin - Trocheck - Tarasenko.  Should be as good as the current iteration, maybe better.

Kreider - Jenner - Cuylle.  Two north south players to reinforce Kreider.

Vesey - Goodrow - Pitlick.  No alphabet soup anywhere in the lineup.

 

Lindgren - Trouba

Chychrun - Schneider

Gustafsson - young guy they're hiding as much as possible.  Jones at LD and Gustafsson at RD might be best and you just be careful not to have too many DZ starts.

 

The character of the team is changed in three ways:

 

1.  The cycling will get cut down dramatically without Fox in the lineup.

 

2.  The lineup will be tougher top to bottom.

 

3.  The Leadership should be over the top with the wait and see Ranger's style forever gone.

These are old school hockey trades.. These things don't happen anymore.. 

I'd not want that one to happen either
