  1. Dallas, prepared to see why Deboer has been fired everywhere he's gone.

He couldn't win in New Jersey with Kovalchuk, Brodeur, and Parise or in San Jose with Burns, Thornton, and Pavelski.

Last year with Vegas, that was a thing of beauty: inconsistencies abound (especially in net) and everyone and their brother getting injured. Deboer was the fall guy for the failures of the Vegas front office, they committed one too many splash moves.

I’m torn. Part of me says Tampa just did this to us, and has that Championship pedigree and to never count them out. And part of me says that by late in the 2nd period of Game 2 against us, they began to find their legs and even though they lost and got off to a 50-50 start with us in Game 3, that they had found their footing. Our mistake was letting them off the mat at 2-0 in Game 3 in a tight game.

But right now? Colorado is just blowing them out of the water. Like…men against boys type of shit.

Its not over. Until Tampa loses at home, all the Avs have done is their job of holding serve. But, yeah. Yikes. That was pretty fucking decisive.

Absolutely, Colorado doesn't seem to make the same mistakes we were making. Even in the games we won, Tampa outshot us.

But in this game 2, Colorado only gave up 17 shots? Did Kuemper even get challenged? He's good, but he's not Patrick Roy. Tampa's defense is not keeping up with Colorado's speed, which what we should've done all last series: Make. Them. Skate.

To compare that to the Rangers 2012-2016 picks after the first round:

2012: Boo Nieves (2), Calle Anderson (4), Thomas Spelling (5)

    2013: Adam Tambellini (3), Pavel Buchnevich (3)Anthony Duclair (3)Ryan Graves (4), Mackenzie Skapski (6)

2014: Brandon Halverson (2), Keegan Iverson (3), Ryan Mantha (4), Igor Shesterkin (4), Richard Nejezchleb (5), Daniel Walcott (5), Tyler Nanne (5)

2015: Ryan Gropp (2), Robin Kovacs (3), Sergey Zborovskiy (3), Aleksi Saarela (3), Brad Morrison (4), Daniel Burkhardt (4), Adam Huska (7)

2016: Sean Day (3), Tarmo Reunanen (4), Tim Gettinger (5), Gabriel Fontaine (6), Tyler Wall (6), Ty Ronning (7)

5 NHLers, 28 picks. Only 1 still playing for us.

Yikes. As if there's any more proof to do this.

It's been this way all year, you are right. The were not a good team defensively. It was Igor and only Igor. Offensively, it was the PP and only the PP. They have some skilled individuals on forward and defense who when highlighted can make great plays, but collectively they did perform well as a team and this chart shows that in spades.

Not only that but that we weren't good 5 on 5, and it showed against Tampa.

This ought to be a reasonably close series but I just don't see TBL having enough gas to overcome FLA's relentless firepower although I expect all that Cup experience should allow them to take this to the limit. FLA in 7.

The defense for both teams concern me, since FLA gave up six goals in a game against Washington and TB gave up five goals twice against Toronto.  It's most likely going to come down to goaltending and scoring depth.

Leafs with a chance to close out the defending champions put all of 3 shots on goal in the 3rd.

Mitch Marner does not look like a playoff player; looks to pass every time, soft as baby shit,  won't go near the net, always on the perimeter.

The looks on the faces of th Toronto fans watching the debacle on the big screen up there; dang.

That's the gripe people have at Marner: he doesn't seem to show up in the postseason (like 2021 vs Montreal).

Looks like another President's Trophy first round upset in the making...

Very unexpected but there's still plenty of hockey left in this one. FLA is easily capable of turning it on and wrapping up this series in 6.

It probably won't Lightning getting swept by the Blue Jackets-level bad, but the Panthers have to get their game going tonight because the Cats are looking like I thought the Caps would be this series.
