  1. There is a cottage on the island reserved for him next to those occupied by Rick DiPietro and Dan Blackburn.
  2. It's staggering to think that he was paid $9m a year 21 years ago, when the general pay scale was nothing compared to today. I'd rather have Matt Barzal at $9.14 per than Aho at $9.75. NOT!
  3. One of several reasons the Bruins are going to finish with 30 fewer points this season.
  4. Wow, if Bobby buys another gold chain with each yearly check, he's got quite a colletion.
  5. DiPietro and Bobby Bonilla go on a Vegas blowout together every year after they get their checks.
  6. Okay, just kidding. I know I'm breaking the rules, but hey, admins, let this one slide.
  7. Are the Penguins running a hockey team or a museum?
  8. With pre-season, regular season and playoffs, we've got guys playing well over 100 games a year. Sorry, no more. My interest in the Olympics ended the day after we beat Finland in 1980. The World Cup of Hockey is pathetic. I had a package of tickets for the 2004 World Cup of Hockey, and I ended up not being able to give them away. 15 years later, I recouped a good bit of the loses by selling the unused tickets on ebay, mostly to Europeans who care about such things. Quick, who won the 2004 WC of H? Gee, I thought you were a big hockey fan.
  9. Easy to whip that off, as it is on his system from the last three times he was probably compelled to write such letters.
  10. The chances of Philly being one of the 16 teams on Goodrow's no trade list are very very high. What would Philly want with a guy who is a finishing piece for a contender rather than a building block for for a team at the very bottom? He would be worth a 3rd rounder at the deadline for them. LaF is not worth a top 5 pick, so it would have to be protected. How do you structure that if, as is likely, Philly is in the bottom 5?
  11. Most NHL players, and stars, are not given the opportunity to develop in a hermetially sealed antiseptic environment in which they are exposed to a perfect mix of opportunities calculated to match their particular talents. Has LaF been used perfectly, no, but his situation has been good enough. A genuine budding star makes due with what he's given and forces his way into more. When you talk about mismanaged young players, I think more of guys who could have been good players, not elite ones.
  12. Interesting speculation about LaF. Don't think Hawks would do it. https://www.hockeylatest.com/It-confirmed-for-Alexis-Lafreniere-who-could-well-join-an-up-and-coming-star-in-Chicago-255794
  13. This is got to be it for him. Already a veteran in the AHL who just signed a two way contract. There comes a time when it is just over, and no one is interested in a fourth resurretion attempt.
  14. Modest prediction: Karlsson won't be winning any cup.
  15. Lord Stanley may have placed a hex on the Rangers when we gave the title "King" to our goalie.
  16. Hell, I remember when goalies were real men and didn't wear masks. As for Lord Stanley, yes, I knew him. Great guy. He, in fact, was the one who started the "Potvin Sucks" chant.
  17. And in response, if I'm Drury, I'm saying "the fact that you were a No. 1 is at this point irrelevent to every team in the leage but us."
  18. I was yelling "peroxide head" at Carr from the blue seats. After making pals with rock stars in LA, he suffered from some sort of debilitating illness. He is cared for by a daughter he had never known from some trist while he was in juniors. Two amazing playoff performances: MacGregor in '74 Canadiens series; Rousseau in Game 5 '72 finals.
