  1. Sorry to hear of the loss of your grandfather man, I understand the feeling. Grandma that lived with me passed away two weeks ago. She was sick for a long time and my Mom was her primary caretaker. The end was very hard and when it happened I felt like I got hit with a pound of bricks. Had same issue with family spread out as well in terms of planning and it was a tough situation considering size of family . So much it that had been a big part of my life for last 2 years. If you need someone to talk to, I'm all ears.
  2. Athleticism is fine, but wrestling is all about the story being told. If all you care for, or what you mostly care for is simply a display of athleticism, the Indies are your calling. They often completely forego story-telling of any kind, instead opting for high octane caliber speed and athleticism to sell their product. For the fans who like that ROH style, it's right up your alley. For me, I'm much more interested in the story being told. It's why I never really gave a shit about the "wrestling" ability of the performer. EC3 is one of the best things going in TNA right now because of how well he can sell himself in stories. He pulls off the holier-than-thou attitude better than most, which makes watching him perform a treat, even if his actual wrestling isn't as technically exciting as it is watching Dean Malenko.

Oh I enjoy a good story, I was just agreeing with the fact that enjoy less emphasis on the larger guys.

  4. To me i always enjoyed the athletic part of wresting and the technical aspect. The guys that made it look seamless. Yeah a jackhammer on a guy like Kevin Nash is impressive, but I'll take the work of guys like Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, Y2J, Bret Hart, Christopher Daniels, AJ Styles, and so on over Cena and company.

I've said it before but I got into wrestling because of WCW's Crusierweight and Light Heavyweights in addition to Sting etc. That's what drove me to TNA early on.

Nothing says "Thanks, Sting" like "you should be thanking us for saving you from obscurity!" Instead of the high road answer that writes itself — "because he's one of the greatest in the history of the industry and we saw an opportunity to give him his Wrestlemania moment — something he deserved, something we owed him — as a thank you for all his years of service to our wonderful fans..." we get this pot shot bullshit. Again. I'm surprised Vince didn't break his own arm patting himself that hard on his own back.

It never ceases to amaze me the level of arrogance and pretentiousness that surround the decision-makers in that company.

If you ever wanted a lesson, first-hand, on why the relentless "brand" bullshit and rhetoric like "WWE rejects" exists and thrives to this day, quotes like this explain it perfectly.

    Come home, Sting.

Yeah, even if they want to ignore his WCW stuff, he was a very influential guy during the NWA and Jim Crockett days. But yeah McMahon is arrogant because Sting was one of the biggest draws in wrestling period. At the height of the Monday Night Wars, people were more interested in guys like Sting than The Rock, Stone Cold and a number of the other major guys the WWF had at the time.

The fact that he was able to be such a decisive and interesting character without speaking in a time where cutting promos were the new big thing to do is amazing. To me, I look at Sting a lot like I look at Chris Jericho for the most part as a truly underrated worker who doesn't get the total credit he deserves.

  8. He's not gone, but I don't. Was watching some earlier stuff of his from late 2014, and man, he was mailing everything in. He made huge calls like Hardy's cross-body on Bully Ray through two tables in NYC sound like a basic leg drop.

He's moving into a Mean Gene role.

I guess for nostalgia purposes I miss him calling matches.

And from Yahoo live blog, after speaking with Dana White

    Kevin Iole:

Said he could be 1 and done or could be around a while. We'll have to see, he said

Said Punk can sell PPVs but he said he's not sure if Punk will be on PPV at the start

He said he's not sure when Punk will fight. Said he'll need some time. Dana guessed six-seven months, but said he wasn't sure when. Said Punk hasn't said that.

Said he is planning to go 185, but said Punk told him, "I'm not ruling out 170"

  11. I wasn't watching WWE at all during this whole thing, but the Punk stuff is riveting.

Also, TNA getting a new logo in 2015, per Dixie Carter.

Josh Matthews, formerly of WWE, is also likely heading to the broadcast booth with Taz around the same time.

    So a three man booth?
