Vodka Drunkenski
Anyone try it? I get dead spots upstairs and want to extend the signal. Has anyone here tried it and if so, was it a simple setup?

Has anyone here tried it and if so, was it a simple setup? It can be an intricate process. It is best explained here. http://lifehacker.com/how-to-extend-your-wi-fi-network-with-an-old-router-915783308

CreaseCrusader91
Thanks, man. I was able to do it easier because the router had two settings, with the other being designed to be used as an Access Point.
Vodka Drunkenski
I have an extra fios router but going to use an old linksys router because I think it will be easier to setup.

Vodka Drunkenski
Messed around with it tonight but no luck. My linksys doesn't have a repeater option so I downloaded the firmware from DDT but it failed while trying to upload.
Respecttheblue
When I read "router," I thought this ... and I wondered what exactly you were trying to extend, "what an animal" I thought. http://www.tapplastics.com/uploads/products/Router_Bits_All-xl.jpg P.S. I ditched my Linksys and got a nice high-end Netgear -- no more dedspotz
LindG1000
This is a bizarre set of lifehacks, but: 1 - If you cut open a soda can and spread it widthwise (so it's like a rectangle instead of a cylinder), you can place it behind the antenna and it can help amplify the waves 2 - Consider your router location. Glass and heavy steel can block, scramble or obstruct the signal.
Vodka Drunkenski
The 1st floor of my house is the old concrete type of sheet rock, I believe that's what's killing the signal so much.
