Anyone own a cat?

I'm more of a dog person but me and my roommates got a cat to fend off mice and because its low maintenance.

2nd. What are some good tips for new cats?

I've got three. They are pretty cool, but can also make you want to kill them. Only real tip is if there is anywhere you don't want it, train it early on to stay away. Ex: Cat on the counters, clawing furniture. Use a spray bottle with water. And use it often enough.

If you ever catch it pissing somewhere besides the litterbox you should kill it immediately. It will never stop and people will stop coming to your house.

I notice that not all cats like to be picked up. I never pick up my cat. I let him just do his own thing.

Mine can jump up from the bed and almost hit the ceiling-fan if i throw his mouse high enough,he's fucking nuts.I keep trying to get it on video but he never does it when i have the camera on

The only annoying thing he does is he sits on my ipad which I keep next to my pillow like it's some kind of mat for him

After the kitten stage, the cat will probably hate you and want nothing to do with you.

My cats psychotic. Hates everyone except me, but it's kind of awesome because all my friends are afraid to touch him so it's like owning a lion or something. He rubs on my leg and purrs and sits next to me on the coach, but one of them tries to pet him and he bites them.

My cat will run around for an hour after it sees the laser pointer trying to figure out where the hell it went.

I have a cat and she is awesome. She is a lot like a dog; She'll come to me if I call her name, she's affectionate, and doesn't cause too much of a ruckus. She doesn't always like strangers, but she'll hide before she attacks them. She will only bat at someone if they suck at petting cats.

I remember we used to have a cat once in my family that was nuts. Thing would nonstop run around the house for hours at a time like it was on crack. One day it was running and just dropped dead right there on the spot. I know i shouldn't, but it was a very LOL moment.

Hated cats until we watched my niece's cat Leo for a month. He's a Maine Coon. Coolest animal ever.
