So with all the doom and gloom going on 'round these parts, I figure now is as best a time as any to do my best to lighten the mood a bit by starting a thread I think a few of you might enjoy.

So here's the idea – obscure Rangers (calling Greg!). Guys who played here a year or less (or less than 82 games) and were actually photographed in their short time here.

You have to have an image of them to post while in a Rangers jersey. It's cute to name random guys who played revolving door here, but the idea is to get images of them to really bump the nostalgia. The older the images get, the funnier the thread becomes.

I'll start it off with Adam Hall:

Yes, they are. Less than 82 regular season games. That's the criteria.

Then "Obscure" isn't the right name for the thread. IMO, obscure would mean little-known...Like "I never knew he played here!"

I mean, Pavel Bure played less than 82 games. Is he "obscure"?

Semantics. "Obscure" is a subjective term. You and I might remember Isbister, but a lot of people may not. Just run with it.

See, that's why obscure is the wrong word.

Nope, because inconsequential would mean they were in fact irrelevant, when many were not. That would allow for guys like Bure, Weekes, etc. to join the ranks because they fit the under 82 game criteria.

Again, this is all semantic.

Pete
03-17-2011, 10:57 AM

Weekes you can make an argument for relevance, Bure no way. He didn't help us do shit, he was just cool to watch for a minute.

I always forget he ever played for us.

The only reason I remember Daigle playing for the Rangers is because he scored a weird goal for us one night at MSG. He like caught the puck behind his back with his glove and had it land in front of him and he wound up scoring, or something weird along those lines.

Outside of that, no memories.

On Friday, the Oilers also announced that they agreed to terms with free agent defenceman Corey Potter on a one-year, two-way contract.

Potter, 27, spent last season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League where he scored seven goals and 30 assists and 52 penalty minutes in 75 games.

Back in 2001 I went to Rye to get some signatures for the morning skate. On the way in this bum Igor Ulanov signed my stick without realizing who he was. It was rainy that day so I was able to wash most of it off. On way out Lindross Rucinsky, and Barny signed my stick. Of course Ulanov check out my stick and said "didn't I sign that earlier.

" Michael Wayne Korney (born September 15, 1953) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. He played in 77 NHL games with the Detroit Red Wings and New York Rangers over parts of four seasons.

Mike played 2 years for his hometown Dauphin Kings, winning Manitoba in his final year (71–72), before moving up to the WCHL with the Winnipeg Jets. Drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in 4th round (#59) in the 1973 NHL Amateur Draft. "

Think he played 18 games for the Rangers. Reason I remember this guy is because when they claimed him I was positive that our eternal search for a big tough D-man was finally over. Mike was listed at 6'3".. 220 lbs which was hugh for that time. Needless to say, even for his size he was pretty invisible on the ice.

There is a pics of him in what looks like it maybe a Ranger jersey...just didnt know how to post it

Shane Churla was one of my favorite goons of all time.

And I think that only Rangers fans remember that Valeri Kamensky played for the Rangers, because he was THAT bad.

6 games with the Rangers. It was one of the weirdest trades we made in recent times.

Only reason I thought of him was because he scored his 2nd (!) goal of the season last night and the 4th (!) of his career in 259 games.

He was one of the greatest guys with the fans. After every game, he would come out and talk to the fans and before he left, he would make sure everyone got a signature if they wanted one. He talked with us one night for like a half hour outside, Lindros was the same way. I always liked him, he was good for the team and always stuck up for his teammates.

Why do I recall some blatant blind pass through the middle of the crease that managed to cost us a contention/playoff game?

No idea. You could be right, I guess, but he only played 9 games as a Ranger, and they sucked balls that year, I think. I'll ask him the next time I see him. I hope he doesn't eat me.

Not to get too off topic, but to this day I'm convinced Bozolinsh had money on the Devils in the 2006 playoffs. I mean, Marek Malik had one of the worst plays I've ever seen a d-man make when we played the Sabres in 07. How you can be 6'6", a defenseman, have the puck along the boards, and decide somehow that the best play is not to pin it along the boards but to throw a blind pass right in front of your net with 7 seconds left and with a 1 goal lead is beyond me. Kids who laced up skates for the first time 5 minutes ago know better than to do that. But that was just one play.

Ozolinsh practically directly assisted on most of NJ's goals in that series. Never in my life have I seen such consistently poor play. I can't describe it other than he had to have money on New Jersey.

I met him a few years back at a local Gordie Howe signing. Was an incredibly nice guy. My dad and I spoke to him along with Gordie and Marty Howe for quite a while.
