Karan Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 (edited) Anyone else watching this series? Season 1 just wrapped up and started watching it a couple weeks ago and fucking loving it. Really good mix of post-apocalyptic sci-fi, drama, government control etc. Really intriguing and thought provoking series. Edited July 5, 2023 by Karan 1
Sharpshooter Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 I feel like science fiction television has been on life support for a long time. This is one of the best sci-fi shows I have seen in a long time. Very gripping television and just a really unique and interesting concept. I'm glad it already got picked up for another season.

Depending on how they space out the story, gotta figure there'll be at least 3 seasons to cover the books trilogy.

Phil Posted January 3 Posted January 3 This show is fantastic. Dunno what took me so long to start it, but I ripped through the first season and caught up to live for season two so far. Reminds me so much of early Lost. Every episode is a cliffhanger. The whole vibe is mystery shrouded in mystery. Every time they "solve" one — bam, another mystery right behind it.

Watch The Expanse. It'll rekindle your spirit in the genre.

And this might be a minor aspect in terms of the viewing experience, but visually speaking, the set designs are incredible and really make the whole premise even more believable. Favorite aspects of the show so far?

Favorite aspects of the show so far? The visuals, for sure. Everything about the presentation is top notch, because they nail subtlety. For example, last week's episode was shot with numerous distance shot -- a shot style they rarely use -- to plant the seed of feeling like Juliette and Solo were being watched the entire time. And they were. I love stuff like that. Color theory, too. The clothing, skin tones, and entire set inside the silo are intentionally drab, making for every shot where you see something vibrant so powerful. The episode where the Mayor shows his shadow the library, for example. Striking difference in color and saturation between all the segments in the down deep versus the ones in the library.
