Marco Rossi for Vitali Kravtsov?

Rossi has been struggling to get playing time, same as Krav. Started the year on Minney's fourth line. Ninth overall pick from 2020. Krav was obviously 9th in '18.

Feels like the "right" kind of trade for the Rangers, given their lack of quality center depth. Not sure if Minney would see the same value, though, given their intense cap crunch and the fact that Kravtsov will need a new deal (and will be arbitration eligible) this summer.

More on Rossi:

The No. 9 pick in the 2020 NHL Draft is a small but supremely skilled forward who has superb anticipation, excellent hockey sense and IQ. He is an outstanding playmaker who can create offense in the tough areas and is also showing he can handle the defensive responsibilities that go along with being a center. Does not have a real burst of speed, but he is quick and agile with a strong lower base that lets him win puck battles.

What makes Rossi so unique, though, is how good he is on both ends of the ice. He’s a creative passer with an innate ability to find open lanes for himself and the puck. He’s also not afraid to dig around corners for loose pucks or get to the net.

Rossi wouldn't play here, either. unless Chytil moved to RW.

Will Chytil be here next season?

I know he is an RFA but what does his next deal look like?  I argued in the off-season thread that instead of going out and getting a second line center it might be better to put Chytil on the second line and then sign Evan Rodriguez to center the third line.  At this point with Mika as the #1 and Trocheck #2, what is Chytil's future with this team?  His ceiling is higher than a third line center if he can stay healthy for a full season and finally put together a 40+ point campaign.  At this point, he is blocked by Mika and Vinnie on the depth chart.

Maybe trading for Rossi brings in a young center more suited to 3rd line duty, then perhaps you move Chytil for right wing help?  Or Chytil to right wing.

Not a bad idea, really. Especially because it will make @rmc51 super-duper sad face.
