Stepan or McDonagh ? Which Trade Was Worse?

The Arizona trade was an excellent deal with an equally bad outcome.

The Tampa trade seemed like a bad deal at the time, and it still does. I didn't get the Hajek love at the time and still don't, especially considering Miller was the throw in to get us Libor.. hopefully the 1st round pick turns this into a long term win, but that deal was 50cents on the dollar the day we made it and seems like 25 cents on the dollar today. Piss poor asset management.

For what it's worth let's not forget that in Miller's full season with Tampa he only had 47 points in 75 games. Tampa had him, Palat, and Johnson all in that $5 to 5.5 million dollar range. They chose to move Miller and give Gourde $5 million. Maybe it was getting traded twice, maybe he just found a really good fit in Vancouver, but there is no guarantee that Miller would have blossomed into a PPG player here.

If they were going to trade him, get value- don't just add him as the sweetner to get Libor Hajek.. Just terrible asset management and even worse scouting on that trade. Trades are a crap shoot, aren't going to win them all.. But when you do lose em you hope its split decision L, not a 2nd round KO.
