Luszczyszyn: Rangers Face Fifth-Hardest Strength of Remaining Schedule

Rangers: The Rangers are in a virtual tie with the Blue Jackets for playoff odds with both teams expected to finish with around 92 points, a total that likely would not be good enough for the playoffs. New York has been on a tear of late to climb back into the race, and while the team?s final stretch isn?t nearly as precarious as that of Columbus, it?s still among the most difficult in the league, fourth-worst at minus-0.39 wins. Like Columbus, the Rangers have to deal with a gauntlet of strong teams including two games against Washington, three against Pittsburgh, one against Tampa Bay and one each against the three best teams in the West. The Rangers have a few more home games to help them but still play one more on the road. With the hole the team is currently in, it?ll be difficult to continue gaining the ground necessary to make the postseason. An injury to Chris Kreider further complicates matters.
